Latino Economic Development Center 2012 Classes
The Latino Economic Development Center will start many classes in January, many of them offered in Kingfield at Sagrado de Corozon. More information can be found on their website and a list of classes can be found on the website below. Their main services are ELL, Computer Skills, Green Business assistance, also regular business classes and job counseling.

4th Annual Rube Goldberg Event – “Kitchen Gadgets”

Use any kitchen gadget, plugged or unplugged, as the main mechanism in your part of the chain of a causation machine. The start and stop point is the oven in the art room of Leonardo’s Basement. The end involves turning on the oven and baking a sheet of cookies. You want to do that part? Bring friends, co-workers, complete strangers. This is a popular and incredible evening.Â

Help Needed To ID Laundry Room Burglar
December 9, 2011 (MINNEAPOLIS) On two occasions apartment building laundry rooms have been the target of either damage to property and/or burglaries. In the first case, which occurred on November 1 at 3019 Pleasant Avenue South the suspect was captured on a surveillance camera tampering with laundry room equipment. See images below. The case number for this event is 11-356540.
The second incident occurred on December 2 at 4300 Grand Avenue South. In this case, a similar described suspect as illustrated below reportedly forced his way inside the building, entered the laundry room, pried open the coin box on a washing machine and before leaving cut several water lines. Ultimately, the water flooded the basement damaging other property. The case number for this event is 11-361011.
Both crimes occurred between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The suspect in both cases is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’ 9†to 6’ tall with a medium build. His hair was described as being in long braids and fashioned in a pony tail. He was unshaven and wore glasses.

South Minneapolis dog park site approved after lengthy debate

The off-leash romping area will be at a Park Board facility in south Minneapolis.
More than a year after controversy erupted over a proposal to create an off-leash dog park in Martin Luther King Park, a south Minneapolis spot for a new dog park has finally been approved. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board voted Wednesday to accept the recommendation made by a citizen committee to convert part of the board’s South Side operations center parking lot in the west corner of Lyndale Farmstead Park into the off-leash dog park. The vote was seven in favor, with one member abstaining and another absent. It would be the first off-leash park in the park system’s sixth district;
