The League of Women Voters Minneapolis is proud to be co-sponsoring this upcoming forum, because the make-up of a school board really influences efforts to eliminate the achievement gap. The League is sponsoring a Minneapolis School Board candidates pre-primary forum. It will be held Monday, August 6th, from 7:30-9 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church at the northwest corner of Franklin and Nicollet Avenues. The Achievement Gap Committee is a co-sponsor for the event, along with the African American Leadership Forum, Education Equity Organizing Collaborative, Empowering Educators for Equity, and MinnCAN.
Two seats have primaries, two do not. All candidates have been invited. They are:
At Large Candidates: Carla Bates, Janice Mae Harmon, Doug Mann, and Willis G. Trueblood
District 4 Candidates: William Lange, Josh Reimnitz, Patricia Wycoff. (District 4 stretches roughly from the city’s border on the west to I-35W on the east, and from Lake Street on the south to Olson Memorial Highway on the north. It does not include parts of Downtown East. Click here for a district map.)
