Thanks to a graffiti prevention grant from the City of MPLS Solid Waste and Recycling and a gap grant from the Dr. Martin Luther King Legacy Council, the Kingfield Neighborhood will be seeing a new mural on the soundwall of 40th Street and Stevens Avenue. The mural will be painted and then installed on each of the sides of the pedestrian bridge in Kingfield, and will serve as a gateway into, and out of, the neighborhood. Kingfield is excited to welcome artist Greta McLain, and recognize artist and Kingfield neighbor Silvia Ibáñz as our artistic leaders on this project!
There will be a series of workshops this spring with teen-focused painting dates and community-oriented dates (this includes families and singles and …well just about every one!) Teen painting workshops will be held inside Dr. Martin Luther King Park on Friday April 27 from 6-8 PM, and Community painting workshops will be on Saturday April 28, 1-3 PM. You do not need to RSVP—just plan to attend! Additional painting days will be held in May!
