Friday, June 22, 7:30 – 9am Turtle Bread, 4762 Chicago Ave S (In the Pizza Biga Room)
Please join Elizabeth this month to learn about three unique arts-driven projects in Minneapolis that were just awarded over $1 million in grant funding from ArtPlace. ArtPlace (www.artplaceamerica.org) is a nationwide initiative to drive revitalization where arts is at the center of economic development. We will hear from Noel Raymond and Mike Hoyt of Pillsbury House + Theatre, which will build a network of arts projects and partners creating an “Arts District” along Chicago Avenue. This work will continue efforts to enhance the vitality of Chicago Avenue and the 38th and Chicago intersection, as well as celebrate the wealth of community artists in the neighborhoods. Intermedia Arts will use its funding to embed artists in the city’s planning process for projects such as transit corridor development, environmental issues, and infrastructure. Daniel Yang, of the Native American Community Development Institute, will describe NACDI’s work to create a new front door for the Native American Cultural Corridor. Come and learn from these organizations about their vision to shape and change community through the arts!
