Equity in Employment: Minneapolis Civil Rights Department
It’s been a little over two years since the Economic Policy Institute issued “Uneven Painâ€, a policy brief identifying the Twin Cities as among the worst in the nation for black unemployment. Minneapolis is actively engaged and has several efforts underway to address racial equity in employment in Minneapolis and our metro region.
Please join us this month to as we welcome Velma Korbel, Director of the Minneapolis Civil Rights Department, and Karen Francois, Director of Employment Equity, and learn about the Minneapolis strategies to address employment disparities including through the Department’s new division, Employment Equity.  We will learn about aggressive hiring goals for minorities and women, Civil Rights oversight for the Vikings stadium, and Minneapolis’ partnership in regional and state-wide efforts to increase equitable and fair hiring practices.
Please join us for what will be an engaging conversation about efforts to end employment disparities — one of the highest priority issues for the future of Minneapolis and for the Twin Cities Region.
