Kingfield’s Business Façade Program (BFIP)
This program has closed due to all funding being expended–over $450,000 of funding has been given to Kingfield businesses! We still encourage businesses to adhere, however, to the Kingfield Design Guidelines, found below, and apply to a simliar exterior grant program now administered through the Nicollet East Harriet Business Association.

Nicollet East Harriet Business Association (NEHBA) Great Streets Business Facade Improvement Grant Program
The City will be adding four more NEHBA commercial nodes to the Minneapolis Plan. Effective Monday April 6, 2009 there will be a total of nine business nodes that are eligible for the Great Streets Business Facade Improvement Program matching grants within the NEHBA boundaries. The program goes through May 2010 or until grant funds are exhausted which ever comes first.
The program remains First Come, First Serve. There has been a notable increase in applications requested this spring. If you are considering facade improvements it is important to start the application process now. Funds will be granted in the order that grant applications are approved. Nodes eligible for grants beginning on April 6th are encouraged to submit their applications now.
Funding is Limited: Only $36,000 remains in the program (enough for 7 maximum grants). Participants must have an application approved to be in line and considered for funding
Match Ratio Change: 36th & Bryant is eligible for a 1:1 match until April 5th after which the match will be 1:2 / 38th & Nicollet will be eligible for the 1:1 match starting April 6th

KFNA’s Home Improvement Loans
Kingfield Neighborhood 5% Home Loan Program
Exterior Improvements & Interior “System” Repairs or Energy-Related Upgrades Qualify
A new $260,000 home improvement loan program has been started by KFNA using Phase II NRP funding. Any homeowner in the neighborhood can apply for up to $10,000 in loans, repayable over 5 years. On the exterior of your home, Kingfield’s 5% Home Loan funds may be used to repair or replace windows, doors, roofs, chimneys, walkways to your home, steps, porches, retaining walls, exterior siding on your home or garage, or for foundation repair, to name a few. The loans can also be used to repair or replace water heaters, boilers, or furnaces, fix plumbing or electrical issues and, finally, for asbestos abatement or the installation of new insulation.
Applications and guidelines can be accessed by calling the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE), which is administering the program on KFNA’s behalf, at 612.335.5884. Applications must include a minimum of two bids if the project costs over $5,000. The deadline for completed applications is 5 p.m., Monday, November 6 at CEE. Applications and bids must be received by CEE, the Program Administrator, by 5 PM that day; CEE is located at: 212 3rd Avenue North #560, MPLS, MN 55401. Applications can be faxed to 612.335.2650 or mailed.
Application are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been committed.
