Five additional parent coaches needed to commit immediately or this ten-year-old program will end!
The Kingfield Neighborhood Association began the “Little Kids Soccer†program the summer of 2002 as a Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) project. The goal was to draw Kingfield families to the Park for activity aimed at families and younger children. For ten years now, we have provided at least a summer program on Saturday mornings, drawing 75 kids, ages 4 through 12, and their parents, grandmas, siblings, and family friends, to the tree-lined field along 42nd Street, for a run of kid-oriented, fun-filled games using a soccer ball or lots of them (or in the case of a the 4-year-olds, at least games played on the soccer field grass).
To make our 11th summer program a reality, however, we need more volunteer “parent-coachesâ€Â to be part of a ~15-member coaches pool to be available on Saturday mornings (or maybe a week-day evening) from mid-June to mid-August. You don’t have to be there every session, only on the Saturdays you’re in town. If we are going to have a Little Kids Soccer Program come this summer, we need to commit to the Mpls Park Board (MPB) by mid March. This enables the MPB to get the program into the summer offerings on their web-site for registering.
If your interested in volunteering as a parent-coach, please contact program coordinator Michael Vanderford  at michaeljvanderford@gmail dot com immediately or this program will be cancelled!
