Phase 3 work is still progressing. The schedule for this week, weather permitting, Thomas and Sons is working on the south half of the 36th St and Nicollet Ave intersection. They expect to follow the following schedule, weather dependent: • • Complete the storm water work today (Oct 16th) • • Gravel and Grade tomorrow (Oct 17th) • • Place the first layer of asphalt Thursday morning (October 18th) • • Start forming the curb and gutter Thursday afternoon (October 18th) • • Place 2 more layers of asphalt Friday or Saturday (October 19th or 20th). Other work in progress includes removal and replacement of the sidewalk in the 3500 block, the installation of tree pits, and other clean-up work in the project area. There is a possibility that sod and the final layer of asphalt could be done on the 3500 block late next week, weather dependent. Minneapolis Traffic will continue work on the installation of signal and street light foundations in the 3500 block. They will also be working to pull in the new underground wiring, so the temporary wooden poles on the north end of the project could be removed. When the temporary poles are removed in the 2012 project area, they may begin setting them up in the 2013 project area.
When will the trees get planted? Minneapolis Park Board intends to plant all the trees in the 2012 project area at the same time. This means the trees will likely be planted next spring.
