A new community art project, a 10-paneled “quilted†mosaic is in the final stages of construction. Â
Community members have already contributed well over 1500 hours to the project, which when completed will be attached to the south-facing exterior wall exterior of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 4055 Nicollet. Images are artistic interpretations of traditional textile patterns from the cultural communities that use the park. This project is co-led and organized by Kingfield Neighborhood Association and Volunteers of America – Minnesota’s Southwest Senior Center with support from the project artist, Sharra  Frank.
The primary goal of the Mosaic Quilting Project is to demonstrate, through visual art, the diversity of cultures in our community and celebrate their shared public space at Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Â There will be an unveiling ceremony in April 2013, at a date still to be announced.
