*****

Come to Advocacy Day training. Gov. Dayton has requested $32 million this year in bonding for affordable housing. Your voice influences the outcome: elected officials need to know you care about the 9,000 Minnesotans who are homeless tonight. No matter your skill level, join the PCNF community for Advocacy Day training offered by our congregational partnership organizers, Allison Johnson and Jenny Mason. Put your passion for ending homelessness into words your legislators want to hear.

When: Tues., Feb. 28, 6 – 7:30 PM, refreshments served

Where: PCNF Administrative Office, 2610 University Ave. W, free parking We promise to leave you inspired and prepared to be an effective advocate for ending homelssness. You’ll be ready for the March 8 Homeless Day on the Hill, too. Email Allison Johnson at ajohnson@plymouthfoundation.org for info.

Educate others about homelessness. Invite friends or family to a tour of our shelter program or of Nicollet Square. We need your help to spread the word about our work to end homelessness. Upcoming tour dates are:

Nicollet Square, Tues., March 15, 5 PM
FMF Night Shelter at Temple Israel, Wed., Feb. 15, 6 PM
FMF Day Center, Sat., March 10, 10 AM

Email Sarah Mollet at smollet@plymouthfoundation.org to register for a tour or to learn more about The Journey Home.

3 ways volunteers can support our tenants and shelter guests.

1. Make a big difference to a PCNF tenant or a Families Moving Forward parent as a volunteer job search coach. Help build confidence, hone resumes and practice interview skills. Training provided. Email Stan Rivkin at srivkin@plymouthfoundation.org, PCNF volunteer coordinator, for details. Sign up for a monthly volunteer email to stay updated about volunteer opportunities.

2. Be a Community Builder for The Journey Home. 43 people said “yes” to hosting a free table at our May 2 fundraising luncheon, expected to draw 500 guests. Email Sarah Mollet at smollet@plymouthfoundation.org or call her at 651-789-6260 x. 208, if you will be one of the 15 more Community Builders we seek to fill all our tables.

3. Organize a drive to collect Families Moving Forward’s current top 3 wish list items: • non-dyed, non -scented liquid laundry detergent • diapers, size 6 • $10 gift cards to Cub Foods, Target or other similar stores.

Email Peter Arneson at peter@familiesmovingforward.org, FMF volunteer coordinator for more info or call 612-529-2185 ext. 13.
