Recap: July 1st thru July 5th

The first week of the Fundamental Soccer Camp kicked off with 30+ participants.  Registration opportunities are still available and can be done on Diamond #1 on either Tuesday evenings or Saturday Mornings.  There is a $15 per participant fee.

The Urban Tennis Program continues to be a success at ML King Park as well.

Upcoming Activity Opportunities: July 14th - 19th

Free Children’s Lunch Program M - TH 12:15 - 1:15 pm. First come first serve.  Pre-registration is not required.

July 18th Field Trip: Cosmic Bowling at Flaherty’s ($18.00). Fee includes 1.5 hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, pop and transportation.  Registration deadline - Friday,  July 11th.

Fall sports Registration as begun.  Youth and Teen League sports include:

Football- Flag- 6 - 8 year olds and Tackle (9u, 11u & 13u)
Soccer- Open & Girls (11u, 13u, 15u & 18u)
Volleyball- Open (11u, 13u & 15u)

FEES RANGE BETWEEN $15 AND $30.00 depending division and sport.

First Tee Golf Lessons ($30) for youth.  The lessons will be at Hiawatha
Golf Course 7/21 - 8/6 M-W-F from 1-215pm. Transportation included.

Children’s City Nutcracker dance lessons ($10) 7/28 - 8/1 Monday thru Friday 2:30 - 3:30pm.

Happenings at Martin Luther King Park

Events that occurred at Martin Luther King Park last week (June 22nd - 28th) included:

  • Free Lunch Program (12:15 - 1:15 pm) fed 80 youth and teens
  • Art in the Park Program participants did drawing, painting and sculpture with Artists.
  • On June 25th the “The Bee Movie” was shown on the Giant Outdoor Screen.  It was viewed by over 100
  • children and adults.

Events for June 29th - July 5th

  • Park closed for the Holiday.  Pool and picnic area will be available for use.
  • Children Soccer camp begins Tuesday, July 1st 6:15 - 7:15pm and Saturday, July 5th 10:15 - 11:15am on diamond #1.

Events for July 6th - July 12th

  • Free Lunch Program resumes 12:15 - 1:15 pm
  • Tuesday (6:15 - 7:15 pm) / Saturday (10:15 - 11:15 pm) Youth Soccer Camp
  • $3 Skate board trip Tuesday, July 8th 6-9pm
  • Sign up for youth golf lessons.  Lessons begin July
  • 21st 1-2pm
