  1. So Alive 3.0 to benefit the Aliveness Project | Saturday, March 1st, 8:00 PM - 1:00 AM | State Capitol, 75 Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Room #15, St Paul

    The Minnesota House and Senate Transportation Committee is having a joint hearing at the State Capitol on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 PM in Room 15 to continue the fight on RNAV and the impact on our neighborhoods. Click here for the announcement

    The purpose of this hearing is to debate pending bills that, if passed, will address RNAV as well as airplane noise and air pollution in general.

    This is an important meeting and we need you and your friends to attend to show our representatives that we care!

  2. Wizard of Oz, a Theatrical Production at Anthony Middle School | March 5th through March 8th | Anthony Middle School, 5757 Irving Avenue South, Minneapolis

    Follow the yellow brick road all the way to Anthony Middle School on March 5, 6, 7, and 8! Students perform the classic tale, including the lost musical number of “The Jitterbug”!

    Show times are:

    • Wednesday, March 5th at 6:30 PM
    • Thursday, March 6th at 6:30 PM
    • Friday, March 7th at 7:00 PM
    • & Saturday, March 8th at 2:00 PM

  3. Rescheduled! Final Community Meeting Regarding the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Playground Redesign | Thursday, March 6th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM | Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

    At this meeting, the design team will present playground equipment options for the park that are being developed based on input from the community, projects artists and playground manufacturers. The community will be asked to review the equipment options, provide comment and work with the design team to finalize the play equipment for the park. At this meeting, the community and design team will also finalize the phasing strategy for the playground.

    All are welcome to participate – kids too! Children can engage in the design process and/or go to the Arts and Crafts room next door with local teens for fun and FREE childcare!


  4. Seward Community Co-op Community Meeting | Tuesday, March 18th, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM | Sabathani Community Center gymnasium, 310 E 38th Street, 2nd floor, Minneapolis

    At this meeting Seward and neighbors will continue to discuss ways in which Seward and the community can work together to build a grocery store that best serves everyone. Seward would like to hear ideas on such topics as how the community classrooms can be used, what products should be on the shelves, and ways in which Seward can incorporate the history of the neighborhood into the design of the store.

    The event will be facilitated by Yvonne Cheek, president of the Millennium Consulting Group. The co-op will provide light snacks and beverages. Childcare and Spanish-language translation services will also be available.


  5. Making LinkedIn (the World’s Largest Professional Network!) Work for You | Four consecutive Thursdays beginning March 20th, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM | SoMakers Space (in the old Java Jack site), 818 W 46th Street, Minneapolis

    This course is organized by KFNA to address a challenge identified by the Kingfield Homebased Professional Group. For more information on this group, or to connect with them simply email info@kingfield.org.

    Each session is an hour with 20 minutes devoted to personal work, individual help and questions, except for week 3 where we will devote 30 minutes to pre-submitted questions.

    There will be homework each week. Laptop required.

    • Week 1 - Identify what you are trying to achieve. General overview of linkedin and how to set up your profile
    • Week 2 - Optimization, key words, adding media to your profile
    • Week 3 - Company pages and groups + 30 minutes of questions (must be submitted 6 days in advance)
    • Week 4 - Creating a strategy, testing, experimentation and additional resources

    You will leave with:

    1. a great profile
    2. ideas on how to use this tool based on your own unique business
    3. a deeper understanding of the platform
    4. a plan to move forward
    5. no fear!

    Sign up in advance $60 for all 4 sessions; $80 if registering day-of the first class or later. Maximum 10 people, minimum 6 people.     About Instructor Emma Lloyd: I have spent 20 years analyzing hardware, data and networks. I have worked for software houses, Wall Street traders and new media artists; and throughout have had the privilege to study the relationship that humans have with machines. My goal is to humanize technology and to empower and enthuse small business owners to embrace tools and use them to grow their business.


  6. Spring and Summer classes at Leonardo's Basement for kids, teens and adults | Leonardo's Basement, 4301 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

    The spring session begins March 16 and includes: Welding for adults, LEGO , After School Workshops, School release day workshops and Saturday builds.

    Summer classes begin June 9 and include: Robotics, Dr. Who, knitting, metalworking, animation and invention!

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) manages this List for the purpose of informing neighbors of events and issues that directly affect Kingfield neighborhood. This list is never shared nor sold to any other organizations. Kingfield is defined as 35W to Lyndale Avenue South and from 36th Street through 46th Street. All List recipients are invited to share neighborhood news with other members by sending messages to sarah@kingfield.org ; please indicate in the subject line that it is a message for the Kingfield E-mail List. All messages submitted by members for consideration of inclusion on the List must include complete contact information including name, phone, and email address. All messages will be screened and no partisan political messages will be posted. Ballot initiatives are not considered partisan political activity, and are permitted activities under KFNA's 501(c)(3) tax status.

The List Administrator will make the final decision as what information is posted to the Kingfield E-mail List and maintains the right to edit all messages. Many messages concerning neighborhood issues or questions we will simply answer directly, rather than posting to the entire list. Notices may also, or instead, at List Administrator's discretion be posted on the KFNA website
