Good Afternoon, more information on the Nicollet Avenue Reconstruction project. Local access changes coming Thursday May 17th.  On Thursday morning, Thomas and Sons will begin pavement removals on the south end of the block between Lake St and 31st. Local access to Office Max and Shops will be on Nicollet from Lake St. Thomas and Sons has completed removal of the pavement on the north end of the block between Lake St and 31st St and much of the block between 31st St and 32nd St. They will continue with the storm sewer and grading work in this area. Note of a couple of up-coming closures: Thomas and Sons has some removal and manhole work and Center Point will also have gas main work along Lake Street at Nicollet. This will be done concurrently and is expected to start the week of May 21st. It may last for 2 weeks. Additional information on lane closures and detours will be shared as it’s available. The intersection of 31st St and Nicollet Ave will need to be closed for necessary underground work. This closure will start following the completion of the work on Lake St Day with the complete closure to last no more than 10 working days, other lane closures on 31st St may be needed in addition to the full closure. Information will be shared as it’s available.

KFNA’s Veggie Basics Graduation Class
In collaboration with Minnesota State Horticultural Society and the University of MN Extension Master Gardener Program in Hennepin County, the Kingfield Neighborhood Association Community Gardening Group offered a 5-week class on vegetable gardening. Thirty neighbors from 6 different neighborhoods participated, and almost half of these were self-declared as low-income, a priority for placement in the class. The classes were comprised of lectures and hands-on demonstrations and participants received a certificate (and a tomato plant!) upon completion of the class if they attended 4 of the 5 classes.
