Kingfield’s 2013 NNO Ice Cream Flavor is Announced!

August 6, 2013 By Sarah

30th Annual Minneapolis National Night Out is Tonight, Tuesday, August 6

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic civil rights March on Washington and the Rev. Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Sebastian Joe’s has helped KFNA create “I have a Dream” Ice Cream!

Vanilla ice cream swirled with orange sherbet (the classic Dreamsicle flavor) updated for 2013 with the addition of chocolate chunks!  Biked to all registered NNO Block Parties by your KFNA Board Volunteers, the flavor is sure to bring back memories of that historic time, and hopefully inspire you to action at the 50th Anniversary event on August 24 organized and sponsored by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board in partnership with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Council, Minneapolis Public School Board Member Dr. Tracine Asberry, Freedom Jazz Fest Inc. People for Parks, PICA/Head Start, and MRAC!

KFNA has created a Kingfield NNO Facebook event page so when the party is over post your block party photos here: https://www.facebook.com/events/594482553935406/

You never know, maybe you will find your friends in print in the next issue of the Kingfield News!

Minneapolis Park Board e-subscription service available

January 31, 2012 By Sarah

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has an e-mail subscription service to provide residents and park users with timely email updates on Park Board activities and services. The service allows subscribers to choose the topics they are notified about, including Board meetings, news updates, parkway closures, planning projects, activities, programs and events, facilities and seasonal brochures.

“Communication is crucial to creating and maintaining strong relationships with the communities we serve. Our e-subscription service will allow us to quickly and efficiently distribute information to email subscribers interested in specific services, programs and facilities,” explained Jayne Miller, Superintendent of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. “Email subscription services will improve public access to information, reduce staff time, cut costs, and increase our “green” communication efforts.”

To subscribe, select the red envelope icon on the home page of www.minneapolisparks.org. By simply entering an email address on the e-subscribe page, subscribers can add topics, change topic choices or unsubscribe.

New Kingfield Forum on E-Democracy

August 9, 2011 By Sarah

Kingfield has a brand new neighborhood forum on E-Democracy. The Kingfield Neighbors Forum on E-Democracy is for the discussion of issues and events related to the Kingfield Neighborhood in Minneapolis. It is owned by the residents of Kingfield neighborhood.   E-democracy’s Mission is to build online public space in the heart of real democracy and community, to harness the power of online tools to support participation in public life, strengthen communities, and build democracy. The Kingfield forum on E-Democracy is a place for neighbors to share and discuss news, information, issues, and current events important to us here in Kingfield.

There are three ways you can become involved:

  • Consider becoming a forum member. It is as easy as creating an account for yourself on E-Democracy. If you are inclined, you may post forum topics and be an active member. Or, maybe you only want to be an observer and simply use it as another source of neighborhood news and information. Either way, it is up to you.
  • Consider volunteering as a forum moderator.  Forum moderators approve and disapprove of posts to the forum and ensure respectful discourse among participants.
  • Consider volunteering as a forum administrator. If you have a little experience in web development and consider yourself to be somewhat technical, maybe you would like to be the go-to person for the forum.

Any of these options require only a minimum amount of time and you can set your own schedule and participate from the comfort of your own home. If you are interested in volunteering to be a moderator or forum administrator, or have any questions, contact .

You can visit the site or become a member at:  http://forums.e-democracy.org/groups/mpls-kingfield

Forum members may submit new topics to the forum by sending email to :
