No curfew in Minneapolis tonight: 10 PM Curfew in Brooklyn Center

April 14, 2021 By Ceugant

There will not be a curfew in Minneapolis tonight, April 14. Leave 911 open for emergencies. Call 612-673-5335 with tips about suspicious activity in Minneapolis that do not require an immediate response.

If you plan to attend vigils or protests tonight please have a safety plan and note curfew in Brooklyn Center is at 10 PM- 6 AM. To be safe please attend with a friend and designate a meeting place if you get separated, let another friend or your family know where you are going, write your name and number and an emergency contact’s name and number on your arm. Also bring your cell phone, a mobile charger, a good quality face mask, water, your ID, safety goggles, a small amount of cash , and a basic first aid kit for your use to assist others. (See the attached image and feel free to copy and share this with your friends and family.)

Stay aware of your surroundings and have an exit strategy. And above all else know your rights and be prepared to state them loudly and calmly.

Apply for emergency rent assistance from Hennepin County; deadline to apply is Friday, March 19 at 12 pm

March 15, 2021 By Ceugant

Hennepin County is offering emergency rent assistance. Households with unpaid rent and low incomes may qualify. The deadline to apply is noon Friday, March 19. Apply now.

While you can’t be evicted for not paying rent during Gov. Walz’s executive order, rent is still due. When the order is lifted, people owing unpaid rent could be at risk for eviction.

This is an initial short-term program for urgent needs. More help will be offered through a statewide COVID-19 Emergency Rent Assistance program opening later this month.

This fall, the Kingfield Farmers Market debuts the This fall, the Kingfield Farmers Market debuts their newest venture, the Power of Produce (PoP) Club, funded by the Kingfield Neighborhood Association. This dynamic pilot program aims to engage and inspire children aged 4–12, opening up a world of food exploration and promoting healthier eating habits.

PoP Club participants receive a weekly $2 token to use on an array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and even food-producing plants. By placing the purchasing power in their hands, the program encourages wise food choices while fostering a deeper connection between our community and the local food system. Alongside the token-based system, the Market is crafting an engaging lineup of activities that include food tastings, kids’ activities and a farmers market scavenger hunt!

Join us September 17 at the Kingfield Farmers Market, as we celebrate the launch of the PoP Club with a special POP-off event sponsored by the Lyndale Neighborhood Association intended to highlight local businesses in our area. Together, we'll cultivate a healthier future for our children, our community, and our local farmers.
