“I am committing to working with the MLK Legacy Council and The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to continue the physical and programmatic development of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Park to further the park’s role as a reflective, active and inclusion space that honors the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the current pursuit of justice for all people.”

Still sewing? We are still collecting completed masks (and delivering sewing supplies!) for health care sites and essential workers. In fact since yesterday we had requests for over 1400 ADDITIONAL masks. Please help us help Hennepin Healthcare, Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, Emerge Community Services, Minneapolis Public Schools, and Presbyterian Homes & Services of Bloomington.
Sign up be a Sewist today! (and share the link for masks too.)
Also, as of 4/28/20, we have expanded capacity and that means that more essential service sites can sign up to receive masks, and scrub caps!
Kingfield Boomerang Bags and Boomerang Bags Minneapolis have set two online forms: One for Clinics, grocers markets, and other essential service providers to request masks, and one for Sewists (Sewing+Activists) to request supplies and arrange for the pick-up of completed masks to the clinics.
If your clinic (not for individuals) needs homemade masks, please let our volunteer sewists know here: https://bit.ly/MasksforHealthClinics. We can now also accept mask orders from essential work sites including grocery stores, farmers markets, and other workplace locations that want to provide these to their employees.
If you are sewing masks, please use this link to arrange for a volunteer to pick up your completed masks and deliver them to a clinic. Please place masks in a plastic bag and write the number of masks on the bag in Sharpie (so they don’t have to be recounted). You can also request more supplies to be dropped off.
Hello! We are the Kingfield CommuniTree Forest at MLK Park!
This year is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! We trees were hoping for merriment and celebrations, with children playing and adults picnicking under our branches. We were looking forward to sharing our beautiful park with you, but instead it is very quiet here due to all you humans being in quarantine. We miss you!
Take a virtual walk in the park and visit us at https://bit.ly/KingfieldCommuniTree and then send a quick note to me, or one of my fellow trees, and we will write you back!
