Hey Kingfield gardeners – the Kingfield Pleasant Community Garden received A LOT of compost, way more than we can use. If you would like to come and take some for your garden, just bring a bucket and shovel! The pile is in the parking lot behind the Center for Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Ave S, under a big blue tarp. Please take what you need, and cover the pile back up in case of rain… Can’t get here this weekend? Send an e-mail to Cheryl@Kingfield.org next week to see if any is still left before trekking over. Happy gardening!!!
Would you like to help provide another location for our friendly pollinators to visit and thrive in the Kingfield Neighborhood? With the help of Minneapolis Parks, we are going to add a native pollinator patch to the southside of the MLK Park Recreation Center, under the mosaics that were placed on the wall. Want to learn more, and maybe even volunteer to help? Come to the community meeting on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:30pm at MLK Park! We will see a list of plants that are being provided, and look at dates for clearing the space and then planting the new native pollinators. We will need teams of folks that want to plant, as well as care-givers to monitor and help the patch throughout the summer.
Interested in helping, but can’t make it Wednesday night? Send an e-mail to Cheryl@Kingfield.org to be placed on the list of helpers!
Saturday May 19th.
Deadline: Tuesday May 15 at 7 PM!
If you would like to have a garage or yard sale please let us know by sending your name and the address of your sale to KFNARummageSale@gmail.com.
The sales will be held on: Saturday, May 19, 9 AM to 2 PM
As in years past, we will place signs throughout the neighborhood letting everyone know about the sale! Due to a change in staffing we will not be publishing nor distributing printed maps this year and instead we will create an electronic version of the map showing the location of everyone’s sales and publish it on Kingfield social media (website, Facebook page, Twitter, and NextdoorKingfield). We hope this change in service still meets your needs, and you use this collective day to rid your home of unused items and clear out your garage!
There is no fixed cost to participate in the Kingfield Community Yard Sale this year, but we do still expect and encourage you to make a donation to KFNA in the range of $10-20 per household for coordinating the details of this event and advertising it. Donations can be made on the KFNA website at kingfield.org (see the “Donate” button on the right side of the home page) or by mailing a check to KFNA at 3754 Pleasant Ave S #101, MPLS, MN 55409. Donations to KFNA, a nonprofit organization, can be written off as allowed by law.
The tour is entirely outside, and will last approximately 45 minutes. It is important to dress appropriately. We recommend clothing to allow confort in the outdoors, and rain boots or old shoes that can get dirty. Conditions can be muddy or dusty depending on the weather. Anyone who is sensitive to dust or who has physical limitations with walking on uneven surfaces should keep this in mind. Hard hats will be provided, safety vests and safety glasses for all.
Tour participants will see firsthand how food waste and yard waste are turned into environmentally beneficial compost. They will get an up close look at the equipment in operation and a detailed explanation of the process from start to finish. Questions are encouraged.
If you are interested in attending please contact Sarah at email@example.com ASAP!
