Dear Kingfield, how do we love you? Let us count the ways!—

November 13, 2019 By Sarah

It’s Give to Max Day Thursday November 14, so we Ask that You Consider Donating to KFNA, Your Most Local Nonprofit!

There are so many things to love about Kingfield…a great park, a hopping weekly market, delicious homegrown food cooked up by local restaurant owners, plus (and here is where KFNA comes in!) a jumble of engaging and creative events, meetings, and activities designed to keep you informed and get you engaged with your community.

And this “community” isn’t something that just happens, it is something that Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA), your local nonprofit, works really hard to create. Why? Because we believe that now, more than ever, taking time to grow connections and foster community can make a foundational change to not only our neighborhood but also in our city and country.  Also, by building a welcoming, inclusive, open and caring community we will have a positive impact on our current and future neighbors.

Learn more about what KFNA does and consider making a donation to your local nonprofit organization here.  Thank you!

Rare on-leash Kingfield dog attack leaves papillon dead, Mpls officials hunting for owner

April 22, 2014 By Sarah

City Pages Article By Aaron Rupar

Around 7 p.m. on Easter in Kingfield’s Martin Luther King Park, a dog described as a pitbull/boxer mix tore away from its owner and went after a smaller papillon.

When the dust settled, the papillon was dead. But instead of cooperating with the papillon’s owner, the owner of the pitbull/boxer mix was “uncooperative” and left the scene.

6th District Lyndale Farmstead Off-Leash Recreation Area Closes Temporarily on May 1 for Final Construction

April 19, 2013 By Sarah

Grand Opening Planned for Summer 2013

The Off-Leash Dog Park at Lyndale Farmstead Park will close temporarily on Wednesday, May 1 for finishing touches. The park opened on a temporary basis this January for a “preview” during the winter months to accommodate pet owners who were looking for a nearby area for their dogs to run. This opportunity gave everyone who is eagerly awaiting the new off-leash space to get a sneak preview of what the new park will have to offer.

There is still a significant amount of work to be done this spring, so as soon as the snow melts and the ground thaws, the final construction work and landscaping will begin. A grand opening is planned for summer 2013 when the full park will be completed. Sign up for email updates about the project and to get news about the opening by clicking here.

Once completed the park will feature (see plan here):

  • A concrete entrance off of Dupont Avenue with a connecting concrete walk over to the primary seating area. The seating area will include benches and a shade structure.
  • Landscape plantings encompassing the perimeter of the dog park, providing a soft edge and buffer.

Remember that all rules for off-leash recreation will apply when the park reopens and an Off-Leash Permit is required for all dogs. Permits can be obtained by calling customer service 612-230-6400 or online at www.minneapolisparks.org/dogparks.

The dog park entrance is located along Dupont Avenue South (Kings Highway) between West 38th and West 40th Streets. Parking for the dog park is on-street on West 38th and West 40th Streets or Bryant Avenue. Please note that there is no parking allowed on King’s Highway between 38th and 40th Streets or in the Park Board’s operations center parking lot which accommodates the Park Board’s large trucks and mobile equipment and is locked during non-business hours. Map of Parking Locations
