I-35W: Both directions closed Nov. 16-19 from Highway 62 to I-94. This is to install a water main.
I-94 west: third lane from Chicago to Nicollet scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Oct. 18.
Ramp I-94 west to I-35W south: Scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Oct. 22.
Single lane into downtown Minneapolis from I-35W: Scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Oct. 22. It will provide access to 11th and East Grant Streets but not Fifth Avenue South.
26th Street bridge: Schedule to open by 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
We are excited that a single lane from I-35W into downtown is opening. This is an important milestone as the project is on schedule and moving forward.
The open lane into downtown provides another option for commuters. Commuters need to continue to decide what options work best for them including choosing an alternate route, transit, carpooling and working from home a day or two or during busy traffic times.
I-35W remains three lanes going north and two going south, so capacity is still reduced. Please keep that in mind as you select your commuting option.
