I-35W will close at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 from Highway 62 to I-694. This is to accommodate work on two projects.
The I-35W@94 project is removing the 40th Street pedestrian bridge. Crews will also do some soil testing in the area and could set beams on the 26th Street bridge.
Crews working on the freeway north of the Mississippi River will resurface the southbound lanes of I-35W from Ramsey County Road C to Fourth Street in Minneapolis. This work is part of the I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville project. http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/i35w-mpls-roseville/index.html
The detour is Highway 62 to Highway 100 to I-694.
Highway 280 will be closed except between University to Larpenteur for local traffic.
Highway 36 west is closed at Fairview.
What is open:
I-35W south from 46th Street
I-35W south from I-694 to County Road C
I-35W north from County Road C
The full closure is needed so crews can complete their work safely and efficiently. It also provides a better quality product.
The bridge removal create falling steel and concrete and would be unsafe to have vehicles in the construction area.
Opening and closing:
The 38th Street bridge is scheduled to open before 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3.
The 40th Street bridge is scheduled to close Friday, Aug. 3. A detour is here.
