Dear Kingfield Neighbors,
Please, share with us your commitment to create a more just city.
As a community-oriented nonprofit, we, the Kingfield Neighborhood Association, are grieving with and for our broader community over the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police. We are grieving and angry for the damage that white supremacy, policing and racism inflict particularly on our black, indigenous, communities of color in our neighborhood and our city. We are determined to change our role in actively and passively letting these systems continue.
The purpose of Kingfield Neighborhood Association is to lift up and connect the people and voices of our community. It is our community members who do the work and make the change. Now, more than ever, we need everyone to take on the burden of change. As an organization we are committed to this work, and want to hear your commitments in order to help lift up your voice, connect you with others, and help make change happen. More importantly your neighbors, community, and city need to know that you are committed to this work.
This week, KFNA Staff and Board of Directors have made commitments to one another to how we will, both as individuals and as an organization, create a more just Minneapolis. We are calling on community members, to do the same and submit an audio recording of their commitments to action, over the following week, in response to the question:
What is one thing you are going to do to create the more equitable and just city that we all desire?
When you call please state your first name , if you are comfortable doing so, and your affiliation with the Kingfield neighborhood (i.e. homeowner, renter, business owner, someone who attends church in Kingfield, etc.).
The submissions from community members, along with those from KFNA staff and the Board of Directors, will be compiled into a single audio file and made publicly available the week of June 22nd via the Kingfield Neighborhood Association YouTube Channel.
There are four ways to submit commitments:
1) Call and leave a message @ 612-234-1867
2) Record a “Voice Memo†on your phone and email it to
3) Submit a written comment of (which will be read and recorded by a KFNA board member) to
4) Send a written or voice message via the mobile Facebook messenger app to The Kingfield Neighborhood Association
