Join Kingfield resident Nan Marie Zosel for gentle, yet invigorating, yoga in her backyard at 4019 Blaisdell. Tuesdays, 7-8 PM through Aug. 11.

Free will offerings will go to Habitat for Humanity.

2)Â Community Playdates, Wednesdays
Community school playdates continue this Wednesday, July 1 at 4:00 PM at the King park playground. If you are interested, perhaps, in sending your kids to Kingfield’s community school please join us. This is a low-key event—with the main purpose of fun and making connections. We’ll continue with playdates Wednesdays throughout the summer. On hot days let’s meet at the King park wading pool. Â

4)Â Great Garden Nominations
Metro Blooms is accepting garden nominations for the 2009 Minneapolis Garden Awards Program. Please nominate a garden that you enjoy seeing from the sidewalk or street in Minneapolis. The garden can be a residential garden, container/window box garden, business garden, public garden, community garden, raingarden, boulevard garden, apt/condo garden, or a specialty garden.

You can complete the nomination form by either going online to www.metroblooms.org or picking up a nomination form at one of the libraries or park offices in Minneapolis. Tangletown Gardens also has nomination forms.

…and thank you Metro Blooms for providing a native plant grant for our most recent Kingfield raingarden at 4307 Wentworth! Volunteers completed installing 3 raingardens at this home over the last three days; check out how they flow with the rains coming this weekend! Thank you Solomon’s Porch, for organizing some extra muscle to help prep the soil, and the many neighbors that dug and hauled and planted!

5)Â The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is holding the first regular meeting of the month in the parks; July 1 meeting will be at the Powderhorn Park gym, 3400 15th Ave. S (612-370-4960).

The regular meeting begins at 5 p.m., followed by a listening session at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will resume after the listening session. The public is invited to share their priorities for park programs and services at the listening session.
