Lake Country School, located on Pleasant Avenue and 38th Street, will begin their renovation project with the decommissioning of the current front entrance and stairwell to make room for additional program, meeting, and gathering space for the LCS community. There will be an addition to the front of the building that will provide a welcoming and more secure entrance, a third-floor industrial technology design lab, a staff room, offices, a student health area, a reconfigured cafeteria, new elevator, and more.
The project expands the support of current programming and administrative areas. Once the project is complete, there will be no change in enrollment or permanent impact to our parking lot space.
Please visit lcsconstruction.org in the coming weeks. Information will be posted soon, including weekly project updates and a construction calendar, as well as general details about the project. We’d like to thank all our neighbors for their continued support and understanding as we begin these exciting developments for our school.
Sincerely,
Lake Country School
Background:
In fall 2020, the LCS Board of Trustees voted to move forward with Phase 1 of the Facilities Master Plan and undergo construction on the front entrance of the urban campus. Some of the initial work began in December 2020 with removal of the red statue and the pergola by the front entrance; both will be put into storage until the project is completed.
You may remember that we were slated to begin construction last Spring but voted to postpone due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and related financial uncertainties. The project stems from the 2013 Strategic Plan and subsequent development of a Facilities Master Plan. It is the first in a series of renovations that will occur over the next 10-15 years. Knutson Construction is set to begin construction in Spring 2021. The project will be completed in Fall 2021.
