Also Present: Sarah Linnes-Robinson, KFNA NRP Coordinator and David Motzenbecker, KFNA President
Anderson presented the following corrections to the July meeting.
- Clarification of the motion was made concerning the Art Bus Shelter. The revised language states: “Rudy moved that the committee approve the CIG grant for the Art Bus Stop Project and Ludwiczak seconded the motion. The committee voted in favor of the motion.â€
- Two references to attached documents were deleted because no attachments were provided.
- Lastly, the following motion was accidentally omitted from the original draft of the minutes and is now inserted. It states “A motion was made to move the $20,000 allocated towards building demolition to staffing. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.â€
The committee then approved the July NRP minutes.
David Motzenbecker attended the meeting to provide an overview of the recent activity concerning the Theissen Vending building. He stated that the Redevelopment Committee had linked up three developers with Mr. Theissen when they learned of his interest to sell his 3800 Nicollet building. The developers are to come back with basic redevelopment concepts by August 25th. Mr. Theissen has agreed to keep his building off the market until this time. The Redevelopment Committee is looking at using the designated KFNA NRP redevelopment strategy funds of approximately $240,000 as a way to steer the development towards a use and/or a design that is in-line with the vision of the neighborhood.
Information concerning the Nicollet Avenue lighting petition was distributed. Not enough signatures have been collected yet to assure that the project will happen.
The committee then discussed the idea of a neighborhood tree planting strategy to help offset the number of elms lost this year and fulfill the goal of “greening†in the NRP Plan. Various options were offered from Park Board planting to private citizen planting to a team of neighborhood volunteers. Eventually, Wherley offered to draft some preliminary guidelines for the program and itemize the questions concerning the program so it can be discussed again next month.
Lastly, Linnes-Robinson presented spreadsheets of the final numbers from the Kingfield Housing Programs and Business Façade Improvement Program. These were prepared for the community meetings held the winter of 2003-04. The purpose of reviewing them was to provide the committee with the basic information on these programs, information that will be needed for the Phase I Evaluation Report.
The meeting was adjourned.
Minutes prepared by Sarah Linnes-Robinson, KFNA NRP Coordinator.
