Featuring Behind-The-Scenes Tours of the Cemetery’s Greenhouse Operations
To celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 22, 2018, Lakewood invites the public to visit its spacious grounds and learn about its long-standing horticultural history. Guests can register online to take a tour of Lakewood’s elaborate greenhouses during their most busy and vibrant season—when groundskeepers are growing thousands of flowers to plant this spring. After the tour, attendees can put their green thumbs to work by planting their own potted plant to bring home.
Lakewood is a unique green space in the heart of the city—with 250 acres of ornate gardens, scenic vistas and endless knolls dotted with old-growth trees and rare and native plants—all open to the public and easily accessible.
