What is one thing you are going to do to create the more equitable and just city that we all desire?

June 17, 2020 By Sarah

“My commitment is, lean into uncomfortable community conversations, engage in conversations that are different from my own, and debate systems I have long thought were okay, or for our best interests. Additionally, to lower my often-loud voice, lifting the stories of the injustices BIPOC individuals experience every day. Lastly, continue to be an engaged community member, with the goal of making our community work for everyone, not just for me.”
–Derek Holt, KFNA Board Member

Want to get involved with nearby community gardens? Want to learn from master gardeners? Pillsbury Garden at 3110 Pillsbury Avenue is currently being maintained by a group of six gardeners called the Master Gardeners who have gone through a garden training program with the University of Minnesota Extensions and who are now completing their community project by maintaining part of Pillsbury garden and growing food for local food shelves in the area. They would love YOUR help to maintain this garden. Come to the garden at 3110 Pillsbury Avenue, Minneapolis MN 55408 on Saturday, July 9th or Tuesday, July 12th to learn gardening techniques, to help tend to the land, and to meet other neighbors while enjoying the beautiful garden! All are welcome. Can’t make it to these workdays? Don’t worry, they will happen every second Saturday and following Tuesday of each month this summer. Neighbors are also always welcome to stop by the garden and help weed and water in their own time. Also remember that there is another group of master gardeners who take care of raised beds at MLK park. They would also love your help! They meet every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm at MLK Park! Questions? Email organizer@lyndale.org or call 612-824-9402.
