- KFNA Annual Meeting & Board Election—“Is That You, Neighbor?” | Monday, January 27th, 6:00 PM Potluck & Social Time, 7:00 PM Meeting | The Aliveness Project, 3808 Nicollet Avenue, 2nd Floor, Minneapolis
Besides being fun, we need you at this meeting because you neighbors are the ones who interview and elect your fellow neighbors to serve on your neighborhood nonprofit board of directors!
You can even be one of those board members, if you’d like— learn more by attending the board recruitment party on January 15, or simply nominate yourself at the Annual Meeting. Each KFNA Board member serves a two-year term, and attends monthly board meetings the 2nd Wednesday evening of each month.
We expect the Annual Meeting to last until about 8:30 PM, at which point all will be invited to help us clean up and retire next door to Blackbird, where we will celebrate the new Board Elect with Happy Hour beginning at 9 PM!
Tours of the new Aliveness Project site will be available from 5:45-6:30 PM for interested neighbors.

- The MLK Playground Community Workshop | Thursday, February 20th at 6:30 PM | Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis
The February 4, 2014 meeting has been canceled and rescheduled for Thursday, February 20th, 2014. The meeting will be held at Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park (4055 Nicollet Avenue S) and will start 6:30 pm.
At this meeting, the design team will present playground equipment options for the park that are being developed based on input from the community, projects artists and playground manufacturers. The community will be asked to review the equipment options, provide comment and work with the design team to finalize the play equipment for the park. At this meeting, the community and design team will also finalize the phasing strategy for the playground. All are welcome to participate – kids too! Children can engage in the design process and/or a child care program.
Play Equipment RFP: To prepare for the February 20, 2014 meeting, playground manufactures are invited to submit playground equipment proposals per the direction provided in the Request for Proposals (RFP) that was released Monday, January 6, 2014. The RPF requests proposals that are consistent with the goal of creating a new playground for the park that celebrates and honors Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Civil Rights Movement and/or African American history.
