    The recent homicide that occurred in Kingfield along with plenty of conversation about what neighbors can do to be safe and share information in future situations like this, will be covered at this next KFNA Crime Prevention & Safety Meeting. Come meet our new 5th Precinct Crime Prevention Specialist and share your concerns, support each other, and develop community-solutions!


  2. 3rd Week Happy Hour for Kingfield Homebased Professionals | Wednesday, February 19th, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Blackbird Café, 3800 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis

    Monthly Gatherings to Build Community While Supporting Local Storefront Restaurants!

    Kingfield Homebasers (aka Kingfield Homebased Professionals) is comprised of neighbors who work from home, either for themselves or others. In addition to formal programs and presentations, which will be held at neighborhood venues twice each year, the Homebasers are pleased to announce plans for casual “happy hour” gatherings to be held during the third full week of each month.

    Neighborhood venues for the Kingfield Homebaser Happy Hours will rotate, as will the day of the week on which the event will be held. Any neighborhood resident who works from home and would enjoy a break, and the company of other interesting neighbors engaged in a variety of professional pursuits, are welcomed and encouraged to attend!

    Our reservation is set at 12 persons per venue, but drop in as your schedule allows, and we hope there will be a rotating crowd looking to build connections, personal and professional, in our neighborhood!   4. KFNA’s Babysitter Speed Dating is BACK! | Thursday, February 20th, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM | MLK Park Arts and Crafts Room, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

    Families need babysitter and Babysitters need jobs. If you live in or near Kingfield neighborhood, come to the 2nd Babysitters and Families Speed-dating Event at MLK Park 4055 Nicollet Ave. South! Babysitters and families will meet each other for 5 or so minutes (depending on how many people we have).

    Babysitters: Bring 20 copies of a flyer about yourself including name, number, email, available days & times, and your rate. You can be as creative in sharing anything else on your flyer as you like.

    Families: Bring your kids. You can even plan to stay for the final MLK Playground Design Meeting which begins at 6 PM in the Park Multi-Purpose Room, and guess what?! FREE CHILDCARE is available for this meeting provided by Kingfield Babysitters!

  5. Final Community Meeting Regarding the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Playground Redesign | Thursday, February 20th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM | Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

    At this meeting, the design team will present playground equipment options for the park that are being developed based on input from the community, projects artists and playground manufacturers. The community will be asked to review the equipment options, provide comment and work with the design team to finalize the play equipment for the park. At this meeting, the community and design team will also finalize the phasing strategy for the playground.

    All are welcome to participate – kids too! Children can engage in the design process and/or go to the Arts and Crafts room next door with local teens for fun and FREE childcare!

    Back by popular demand, it's So Alive 3.0! It’s KFNA’s third dance benefit for The Aliveness Project featuring ‘80s and ‘90s music! All proceeds benefit The Aliveness Project, a community center for people living with HIV/AIDS, and this time, it's being held at their new facility in Kingfield! All proceeds will be matched dollar for dollar by Edwards Memorial Trust. Presented by Kingfield Neighborhood Association, DJ SLT and the return of Resurrection by djoctagone with supporting partners Unity Sound Ministry LLC, Erik Brown Homes, and Victor's 1959 Cafe. Save $2 with a non-perishable donation for The Aliveness Project's food shelf. Cash bar. 21+ with ID. Coat check available.

  9. Making LinkedIn (the World’s Largest Professional Network!) Work for You | Beginning mid-March

    • Week 1 - Identify what you are trying to achieve. General overview of linkedin and how to set up your profile
    • Week 2 - Optimization, key words, adding media to your profile
    • Week 3 - Company pages and groups + 30 minutes of questions (must be submitted 6 days in advance)
    • Week 4 - Creating a strategy, testing, experimentation and additional resources

    You will leave with:

    1. a great profile
    2. ideas on how to use this tool based on your own unique business
    3. a deeper understanding of the platform
    4. a plan to move forward
    5. no fear!

    Classes will begin in mid-March, on a Thursday afternoon or early evening at a time that works for best the registrants. Each session is an hour with 20 minutes devoted to personal work, individual help and questions, except for week 3 where we will devote 30 minutes to pre-submitted questions. There will be homework each week. Laptop required.

    Sign up in advance $60 for all 4 sessions; $80 if registering day-of the first class or later. Maximum 10 people, minimum 6 people.     About Instructor Emma Lloyd: I have spent 20 years analyzing hardware, data and networks. I have worked for software houses, Wall Street traders and new media artists; and throughout have had the privilege to study the relationship that humans have with machines. My goal is to humanize technology and to empower and enthuse small business owners to embrace tools and use them to grow their business.

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) manages this List for the purpose of informing neighbors of events and issues that directly affect Kingfield neighborhood. This list is never shared nor sold to any other organizations. Kingfield is defined as 35W to Lyndale Avenue South and from 36th Street through 46th Street. All List recipients are invited to share neighborhood news with other members by sending messages to sarah@kingfield.org ; please indicate in the subject line that it is a message for the Kingfield E-mail List. All messages submitted by members for consideration of inclusion on the List must include complete contact information including name, phone, and email address. All messages will be screened and no partisan political messages will be posted. Ballot initiatives are not considered partisan political activity, and are permitted activities under KFNA's 501(c)(3) tax status.

The List Administrator will make the final decision as what information is posted to the Kingfield E-mail List and maintains the right to edit all messages. Many messages concerning neighborhood issues or questions we will simply answer directly, rather than posting to the entire list. Notices may also, or instead, at List Administrator's discretion be posted on the KFNA website
