Kingfield Residential Organics Collection Workshop & Drop-off

Every Saturday, 9:00 AM - Noon and every Tuesday, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

MLK Park's Parking Lot, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

Meat, bones, dairy, and fruit pits – did you know these and more are accepted at the MLK Organics Drop-off? These and many other items that can’t be composted in your backyard bin are accepted in the City’s drop-off and the citywide organics recycling program. Please remember, all items must be bagged in a compostable bag when dropped off; only Larger items such as pizza boxes and wax-coated (NOT plastic-coated!) boxes do not need to be bagged.

The MLK drop-off is open Tuesdays (4-7p.m.) and Saturdays (9a.m. – 12p.m.) for the next several weeks. After that, those who sign up will be emailed the code to the locks to use the drop-off at their convenience. For more information or to sign up to participate at the MLK drop-off, visit the Organics Recycling webpage

Kingfield Farmers Market: Name that Bee and Home Energy Squad 'Enhanced'

Sunday, May 24th, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

KFNA Table, 4310 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis

The market was buzzing last week - 244 of our Kingfield Bees now have names! Each sponsor donated 50 cents to name a bee, and make a pledge to help the bees by providing a healthy, pollinator-friendly neighborhood. For the next 2 Sundays, we will continue to collect bee names, and on Sunday, June 7, the names of our two queen bees will be drawn from amongst the names submitted.

Also, Home Energy Squad Enhanced with the Center for Energy and Environment will be at the KFNA Table at the Kingfield Farmers Market with info on Home Energy Squad visits and home improvement loans. Come to ask your home energy and financing questions, sign up for the upcoming Home Energy 101 workshop, and schedule your Home Energy Squad visit here.
