Planning Ahead for Empty Bowls
1st Meeting - Tuesday, October 11th, 7:00 PM - 8:30PM
MLK Park, Arts and Crafts Room, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis
Kingfield Empty Bowls 2017 will be here before we know it, and we are looking for volunteers to help create another wonderful experience. Please let us know if you would like to be part of the team that helps host an event that celebrates our community and supports residents and programming at Nicollet Square, a project of Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative that provides a safe, affordable, and supportive Kingfield housing option for youth who have experienced long-term homelessness or have been in the foster care system.
Volunteers may decide to host a Paint-a-Bowl Party, or work with local potters and pottery studios to create unique bowls for the event. Also needed are volunteers to help with general event planning. (It’s fun, we promise!)
If you are interested in being on the planning team send your contact information to info@kingfield.org ...or just show up for the meeting on the 11th!
Save the Date: Kingfield Empty Bowls community dinner, Tuesday, February 9, 2017

Wheels will spin and clay will fly: Get ready for the 2nd Annual Kingfield Empty Bowls Throwdown! (& Community Paint-a-Bowl event!)
Saturday, October 15th, 11:00 AM - 5:00PM
in partnership with Uptown Clay, 2845 Harriet Avenue South, Minneapolis
Experienced ceramic artists, come join the fun! Uptown Clay (formerly Fire on the Greenway) is providing the space, wheels, and clay for this single-day throwdown. The goal is to make 120 bowls for the February Kingfield Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser held in February to benefit Nicollet Square, a supportive place for formerly homeless youth. (See their story on page 3.)
Don’t know how to throw? Come anyway, and watch the wheels spin and the clay fly! There will be things to nibble and sip, and a chance to chat with the artists about their work while browsing the studio as they get ready for their annual holiday sale coming December 2-4. You can also paint a bowl for Kingfield’s February 2017 Empty Bowls event!
Ceramic artists: To reserve a wheel for a throwing shift on Saturday, October 15th, send a request to Jon Loer at jloer@aol.com and a copy to Benjamin Krikava at bkrikava@hotmail.com. Questions can be directed to Benjamin at 612.327.5274.
If you are a ceramic artist and cannot join the throwdown but still want to donate bowls, we are happy to accept your donation and arrange a pickup. For donations and more answers to questions about the Kingfield Empty Bowls event or the throwdown, please contact KFNA’s Executive Director, Sarah Linnes-Robinson, at 612.823.5980 or sarah@kingfield.org.

Voting Day Volunteers
Tuesday, November 8th, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
MLK Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis
Kingfield have you heard? KFNA will be back (101 feet back, in fact!) at MLK Park on Voting Day handing out fresh hot coffee and tea and treats donated by many of our fabulous local businesses including Butter Bakery, Five Watts, Pat’s Tap, Sun Street Breads, The Lowbrow, Grand Café, Curran's, Bruegger's Bagels, Victor’s 1959 Café, + more!
Interested in volunteering at our non-partisan booth (or baking some extra treats for us to share with your neighbors?!)? Remember we are trying to offer a "thanks for voting" to upwards of 85% of Kingfield's 5000 voters (and that's a lot of coffee and cookies!) Sign up at tinyurl.com/z6evorj
To support this effort we could also use donations of a few items, ideally permanent donations, but if no one is getting rid of these items right now we would borrow them day-of as well. We need:
1 outdoor fire pit, 1 large church-lady style coffee urn
If you have questions please send an email to sarah@kingfield.org.
