This group began meeting after the 2016 Presidential Election and is committed to making Kingfield a safer, more inclusive neighborhood for everyone. Participation on the task force is open to anyone interested in making a positive difference in our community; we are particularly interested in recruiting members from historically underrepresented groups. People of color, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to participate.

Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) Board Meeting

The KFNA Board of Directors meets monthly to manage the affairs of the neighborhood nonprofit. Each meeting begins with Community Forum, which is a chance for neighbors to bring forth questions, concerns, or simply introduce themselves to the Board. If you would like more than 2-3 minutes on the agenda please contact Executive Director Sarah Linnes-Robinson at sarah@kingfield.org to discuss timing and inclusion on the agenda.

Kingfield PorchFest 2017: A Festival on the Profoundly Small Scale!

Thursday, June 8th, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Prepare for PorchFest 2017! So far 28 porches and 48 musical groups have committed to playing for your listening pleasure on Thursday June 8, 6-9 PM!

Join the Facebook event page to get a preview of bands. An event map will be released a day or two before the event so you can track your walking path through Kingfield.

Remember--all musicians are playing for free, so pack your pockets full of change to tip those talented neighbors!

What Is Kingfield PorchFest?
PorchFest is an evening of acoustical music held at multiple outdoor venues throughout Kingfield on a single evening. PorchFest is a chance for musicians to share their music with their neighbors and a chance for neighbors to walk the dog, stroll the baby, or pack a cool beverage and meander with their sweetie from home to home enjoying the talent of our amazing neighborhood!

Pollinate Community Opening Reception: Inspired by Pollination in Nature & in Our Communities

Bees and other Pollinators are Increasingly in Danger - It is our responsibility to change our ways to save them and ourselves. How can we step up together, when so many people in our community are Increasingly in Danger as well? Pollination is a Powerful Force in an eco-system that relies on inter dependent, diverse and complex relationships for All of Our survival.

EVERYONE is WELCOME to join us as we Celebrate, Educate and Inspire a more Sustainable World! Enjoy Sweet Treats, Community Love, Art and Education Stations, Live Music and an Amazing Exhibit Featuring Multi -Media Art by LOCAL ARTISTS.

* Performing at 3pm - Steph Romine's Music Style is a blend of jazz, blues, folk, and reggae.
* Performing at 4pm - Lula Saleh is a Poet and her Music Style is a mix of acoustic and electronic soul music.

4-H Camp in the City

Join us for 4-H Camp in the City! This camp will be filled with exciting hands-on activities and group challenges, plus one field day spent canoeing, swimming, or exploring nature.

WHERE: Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 4055 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55409
WHEN: Register for one or both camps via the links below

WHO: Youth in grades: 3rd-7th. Youth in grades 6-7th will be considered Jr. counselors. Limited to 15 campers.
COST: $80 per camper. Partial scholarships are available.
REGISTRATION: Please register via the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board website link listed above.

Southwest Senior Center Closing, Farewell Celebration of 41 Years of Service

Friday, June 30th, 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Southwest Senior Center to Close on June 30

After 41 years of providing services to Minneapolis seniors, Volunteers of America-MN/WI's Southwest Senior Center will be closing its doors and the center will no longer provide social work, adult day, senior dining, exercise classes and wellness services. The center served over 1,000 seniors in 2016. Center staff are working with other community organizations to find homes for programs like the exercise classes and options for people in the adult day program.

The Center will hold a Farewell Party on Friday, June 30 from noon - 2:30 pm at 3612 Bryant Avenue S.

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) manages this List for the purpose of informing neighbors of events and issues that directly affect Kingfield neighborhood. This list is never shared nor sold to any other organizations. Kingfield is defined as 35W to Lyndale Avenue South and from 36th Street through 46th Street. All List recipients are invited to share neighborhood news with other members by sending messages to sarah@kingfield.org ; please indicate in the subject line that it is a message for the Kingfield E-mail List. All messages submitted by members for consideration of inclusion on the List must include complete contact information including name, phone, and email address. All messages will be screened and no partisan political messages will be posted. Ballot initiatives are not considered partisan political activity, and are permitted activities under KFNA's 501(c)(3) tax status.

The List Administrator will make the final decision as what information is posted to the Kingfield E-mail List and maintains the right to edit all messages. Many messages concerning neighborhood issues or questions we will simply answer directly, rather than posting to the entire list. Notices may also, or instead, at List Administrator's discretion be posted on the KFNA website
