Kingfield Votes and You Can Help!

Kingfield is a neighborhood of Voters! Yet, even so, in municipal election years (like 2017) our voting population drops to half. Convinced we can do better, KFNA is working on a number of strategies to increase voter turnout in our neighborhood, and our broader community. Sign up to help on any of the following efforts or contact KFNA at info@kingfield.org and let us know your availability and interests!

  • Host an Election Day Reminder Yard Sign!
  • Support the Kingfield Votes Yard Sign Campaign! Make a financial contribution here
  • We have spent months and months working towards election day, and it’s ALMOST HERE!! Lots of you helped put together an incredible forum, where we filled an entire auditorium. Folks have stepped forward and doorknocked, phonebanked, and flyered, and nearly every person we’ve been speaking to has said, “I’m voting.” And yet, there are more people to reach.

We’re rallying from November 4th – 7th, with multiple shifts (and food!) available. We’ll meet at:
    CAPI USA
    3702 East Lake Street
    Minneapolis MN 55406

Sign up through this link. It’s SUPER important you sign up, and sign up before Thursday 11/2/17 at 5pm, since there’ll be no way to know how many folks we’ve spoken to unless you’ve put down your name. All volunteers, remember to choose “LYNDALE” as the organization you’re coming through.
  • Volunteer at the Kingfield Polling Party at MLK Park on Election Day!
  • Still not sure who to vote for? Watch last week’s recent Mayoral Forum on Racial and Economic Disparities
  • Kingfield Votes on November 7th! Thanks to our amazing business community for fueling our Polling Party. Stop by either tent for hot coffee and tasty treats from Five Watt, Butter Bakery, Royal Grounds, Curran’s, The Lowbrow, Victor’s, Vicinity, and Bruegger’s!

Street Repaving Assessments: Avoid the Interest Fee and Pay Now

If your block was resurfaced this summer, your property was assessed for street resurfacing. Assessments of more than $150 are collected in five annual principal installments on the real estate tax statements beginning in 2018. Interest is charged on the assessments at a 3.9% rate. Want to avoid paying 3.9% interest? You can prepay your entire amount starting in November through the end of 2017. Call 612.673.2401 for a pay statement.

The City of Minneapolis will not be sending or publishing any further notices about prepayment for this street resurfacing assessment, but because KFNA cares about its neighbors, we’re reminding you here!
