Free Paint-a-Bowl at ColorWheel
Sunday, January 14th, 2:00PM – 6:00PM
ColorWheel Gallery, 319 W 46th Street, Minneapolis
Come paint-a-bowl at the ColorWheel Gallery for the 7th Annual Kingfield Empty Bowls event, which benefits Nicollet Square Housing and Lyndale Community Dinners! Stop by between 2-6pm on Sunday, January 14th. This is a free activity for anyone that would like to paint a bowl hand-created by local artists; we do ask that kids under twelve years old participate with a parent. Your handiwork will decorate bowls that will then be glazed and used at the Kingfield Empty Bowls fundraiser.
Ceramic artists can drop off their already made bowls to donate to this event (and at the paint another while you do so) with Tammy at the ColorWheel on this day too!
Kingfield Empty Bowls, being held on Thursday, Feb. 8th, 2018, is an event that brings the community together to share a meal of homemade soup and bread donated by local restaurants, eaten out of handmade bowls donated by local artists. We accept a donation from all diners and all the proceeds from the event are given away to help an organization in our neighborhood. For a suggested donation of $20 community members eat dinner with us and take the bowl home as a reminder of our many neighbors that are in need of food and shelter. Last year this event drew over 800 people and raised almost $10,000 for Nicollet Square. This year we have expanded our partnership to include Lyndale Community Dinners, which provides a free home cooked dinner every Wednesday to community members. We feel their work in our community helps address food security and provide a chance for people of all different walks of life to gather together to share a meal.
