Celebrate Earth Day at MLK Park
Saturday, April 22nd, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
MLK Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis
Either walk to the park collecting trash along the way from our neighborhood to leave at the park for collection, or stop by the park and pick up a bag and gloves and help spring clean the site. Either way, join us to celebrate Earth Day!
This year, we're excited to announce a partnership with Hennepin County Master Gardeners; from 9:30AM - Noon, Master Gardeners will be available to answer all of your gardening questions. Information on a their plant sale, with both vegetables and native plants, as well as contact information for Master Gardeners in our area will be shared. Additionally, Master Gardeners will be sharing information about their Donation Garden Project with the Aliveness Project, also located at MLK Park.
Also, get your garden started with super local compost! KFNA is working with the MN Plate to Garden Compost Program and will be distributing bags of compost from the site that receives organics recycling from our community. You can complete the loop of growing food, eating food, and then turning food scraps back in to soil to grow food again! For a donation benefiting KFNA and MLK Park, you can shovel a 20 lb. bag of local compost to take back to your garden (limit 4 bags per household, please).
We look forward to seeing you and to announcing further partnerships for our upcoming Earth Day!

Film Showing: Milwaukee 53206
Saturday, April 22nd, 7:30 PM
Solomon’s Porch, 100 West 46th Street, Minneapolis
Film followed by a conversation with Keith McQuirter, Director/Producer of Milwaukee
Solomon’s Porch is hosting a showing of documentary that is in town for the Twin Cities Film Festival called ‘Milwaukee 53206’. It is a one-hour documentary that chronicles the lives of those affected by incarceration in America's most incarcerated zip code. Through the intimate stories of three 53206 residents, we witness the high toll mass incarceration takes on individuals and families that make up the community. The film not only examines Milwaukee's zip code 53206, but also illuminates the story of people from across the United States who live with the daily effects of mass incarceration.

43rd & Nicollet Pedestrian Safety Meeting
Tuesday, April 25th, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Aliveness Project, 3808 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis | Community Room on the 2nd Floor (elevator access is available, if needed)
Traffic, parking, and pedestrian concerns and solutions have been discussed at this intersection since last summer with the current bollard design being tested earlier than planned due to the hit and run accident resulting in a woman’s death at this intersection last fall. A median design has been proposed by the City as another form of traffic calming that could be tested in this location; local businesses are concerned by the number of on-street parking spots this design will remove from Nicollet Avenue.
Come learn more about the proposed median design and other possible modifications to the current design that could occur to make the intersection more pedestrian friendly.
If you have questions feel free to contact KFNA’s Executive Director Sarah Linnes-Robinson at sarah@kingfield.org or 612.823-5980.
