KFNA Redevelopment Meeting

Wednesday, May 27th, 7:00 PM

MLK Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

KFNA will continue to discuss a proposed development on 39th Street West for affordable housing for families. The committee will also begin dissecting the players and funding involved in the future scheduled bridge projects (specifically the 38th and 40th Street bridges will be discussed at this meeting); these bridges serve as important connections that unite Kingfield to the eastern half of the City and our neighbors in Bryant, Central, and Field neighborhoods.

Early Morning with Elizabeth: The Legislative Wrap-Up!

Friday, May 29th, 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM

Turtle Bread, 4762 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis

Join Elizabeth Glidden, 8th Ward Councilperson, for a special 2015 Legislative session wrap-up co-hosted by Council Member John Quincy of Ward 11. We will be joined by Senator Jeff Hayden, Representative Jim Davnie, Representative Ray Dehn, and Representative Frank Hornstein, as well as Jovita Yolis of the organizing group Mesa Latina. Additional speakers are invited and not yet confirmed.

We will talk about the issues left unresolved this legislative session – including Restore the Vote campaign and critical funding for transportation - and the path forward, as well as successes and challenges. We will also explore the role of “insiders”, such as legislators and lobbyists, and “outsiders”, grassroots organizing champions and resident activists.

Free coffee courtesy of Turtle Bread

Kingfield Farmers Market: Name that Bee continues this week

Sunday, May 31st, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

KFNA Table, 4310 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis

...and the bee-naming continues!

We have some pretty lucky Kingfield bees that have received some awesome names at the last two Kingfield Farmers Markets (even in the rain!). We now have Buzzy the Bee, Bee-yonce, To Bee / Not To Bee, Oh-Bee-Have, I'll Bee Back, BB King, and Bee Wee Herman, just to name a few of the almost 300 bees that have been named so far! Be sure to stop by the Farmers Market and help us name those bees! This Sunday we will continue to collect bee names, and on Sunday, June 7, the names of our two queen bees will be drawn from amongst the names submitted.

Name your bee this week and support our community hive!
