The 32nd Annual Minneapolis National Night Out is Tuesday, August 4, 2015: Register Your Party Now!

National Night Out is an annual nationwide event that encourages residents to get out in the community, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. It's a great way to promote community-police partnerships and enjoy a Minnesota summer evening surrounded by friends and family.

This year’s event will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015. It is free to participate in National Night Out. When you register your event, you will get free Mystery Point Passes for Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. Not to mention personal ice cream delivery service from Kingfield Neighborhood Association Board Members and Staff!! Registration also places you on the official list of NNO events that gets distributed to police and other departments.

Registering your NNO event and applying to close your street/alley is a single online process. Note: Not every street can be blocked off depending on the traffic flow. Generally, bus routes and high traffic streets cannot be used for block events.

You will need permission of 75% of your neighbors to be approved for street closure —keep their names and addresses handy in the event your permit application needs to be reviewed. So, contact your block and then click here to get started.

If you register by July 21 you can block your street for free. If you register from July 22 through July 29, there is a $100 fee. You will not be able to block off your street if registering after July 29.

As with many past National Night Outs, Minneapolis was ranked #1 among all U.S. cities over 250,000 population in 2013. Over 1,480 events were registered in 2014. Was yours one of them? We hope so!

Safe Routes to School Meeting Regarding Lyndale Community School

Monday, July 27th

Painter Park, 620 W 34th Street, Minneapolis

The City of Minneapolis was recently awarded funding to improve several pedestrian crossings near Lyndale School. City staff worked closely with the school to identify three priority intersections, which were then included in the funding application. The project staff would like community feedback on the proposal before beginning the engineering/design phase. Construction is expected to take place summer 2016.

Please attend the Lyndale Neighborhood Association General Membership Meeting on July 27th, 6:30pm at Painter Park to discuss the project with City staff. Visit the project webpage here for more information
