Visit with Solid Waste and Recycling at the Market

Sunday, October 22nd, 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Kingfield Farmers Market, 4310 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

Stop by City of Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling’s table at the Kingfield Farmers Market on October 22nd to get your recycling questions answered and test how wise you are about waste by seeing if you can correctly sort items into trash, recycling and organics recycling containers! Solid Waste & Recycling customers can sign up for an organics recycling cart directly at the table, and can also pick up an organics recycling kitchen collection pail and packets of compostable plastic bags to make it as easy as 1-2-3 to recycle your food scraps, paper towels and other organics at home.

If you don’t have City Solid Waste & Recycling service, stop by the table and learn how you can compost your organics with your current hauler or by using a City organics recycling drop off site.

Kingfield Composting Survey

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) has created an “Organic Recycling” survey to assess barriers and benefits for neighbors related to the City of Minneapolis’ curbside compost pick-up program. Please take the following brief survey whether you currently participate in the program or not: take online survey here

KFNA will be working in the coming year to increase participation in this program. If you are interested in being a member of this Rocking Organic Team (ROT!) just send an email to Sarah@kingfield.org. We will be hosting a Composting Café at Butter Bakery as our first team meeting in the coming weeks.

Vote at MLK Park Yard Sign Campaign

Election Day is coming up Tuesday November 7th and all Kingfield residents vote at MLK Park. For Presidential elections, Kingfield typically has an 85% turnout. But if history repeats itself this year, more than half of those Kingfield voters will NOT vote in the 2017 municipal election.

KFNA has made yard signs that identify that MLK Park is the place for to vote for all Kingfield residents. We are seeking neighbors (up to 4 per block) who are willing to have a sign placed in their yards or possibly alleyways. We are especially seeking permission from corner property owners, and from property owners next to or across from multi-unit housing. (If your alleyway is across from the parking pad and/or dumpsters of multi-unit housing, your property may be an ideal spot for a sign also).

KFNA volunteers will place a sign in your yard, and then in the days after the election, KFNA volunteers will return to pick up the sign so we can re-use it next year.

To submit your address to receive a sign, visit here!

To make a donation to support this outreach visit the GoFundMe page

Special thanks to Kingfield resident Alex Kern for designing these yard signs!
