Block Leader Training
Wednesday, December 6th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
MPD 5th Precinct, 3101 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis
What is a Block Leader? A neighbor on your block that volunteers to help the block connect with each other, and distribute information for the safety of people living on that block.
Interested in volunteering for your block? Contact Jennifer Waisanen (Jennifer.Waisanen@minneapolismn.gov) to find out if there is already a block leader that you can assist, or if the block is in need of a leader! Then RSVP for the upcoming training where you will learn:
- Crime prevention information
- Proper use of 911
- How to organize your neighbors and run effective meetings
- How to keep the block/apartment club active
- Resources available from your designated Crime Prevention Specialist
Did you know that Kingfield has one of the highest percentage of block leaders? Unfortunately, these are the leaderless blocks - do you live here? If so, please take this opportunity to help your block connect to important city resources and learn ways to have fun while doing it!!

Minneapolis 2040 Open House
Monday, December 11th, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
MLK Park Multi-Purpose Room, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis
Join your neighbors in shaping our city to become a healthy, sustainable, and thriving place for all. Minneapolis 2040 is an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a document that shapes how Minneapolis will grow and change. The plan will cover topics such as housing, job creation, the design of new buildings, and how we use our streets.
Over the past year, City planners have learned a lot from Minneapolis residents about the future of our city. We’ve heard that as the city grows, everyone must benefit from that growth. You told us that it can be difficult to access jobs that are not located nearby. We’ve heard concerns about the rising cost of housing, and that not everyone has access to the type of housing that meets their needs. We’ve also heard that people value well-designed and environmentally sustainable buildings, and that there is a desire for the city to be more walkable, bikeable, and mass transit-friendly.
Please attend one of four upcoming family friendly, interactive open houses in early December. Enjoy complimentary refreshments from local vendors. For more information and to sign up for updates at minneapolis2040.com.
If you cannot attend the meeting in Kingfield, feel free to attend any one of these other Open Houses:
- December 2nd from 10:30-12:30
Van Cleve Park Gym
901 15th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

Support KFNA in our small work of connecting individuals to a larger community
There are a lot of needs in this world and we know that Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) isn’t the biggest one. Our nonprofit Board of Director’s energy, time, and money are being spent in our relatively small neighborhood, engaging residents and businesses in activities, issues, and solutions and working on the biggest idea of all: making sure each and every person feels some level of connection to someone, or something, in these crazy times. The goal of this work is to have each person feel they are a valuable part of moving our collective community toward a more just, and engaged, position in this world.
If you believe that this work on the small neighborhood level is important, we encourage you to follow this link, learn more about KFNA, and consider making donation to the Kingfield Neighborhood Association this year. Thank you!
