I-35W Closure THIS Weekend

I-35W closed in both directions between Highway 62 and I-94 to install pipes in four areas under the freeway. Unlike previous closures, the 46th Street ramp will not be open to I-35W. It will be open at Diamond Lake Road. This is for a separate project that will be installing electronic signs above the freeway.

Scheduled to open: I-35W north to Fifth Avenue in downtown Minneapolis is expected to open by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. This is provide additional access into downtown. It will eventually close again next year because there is more work to do in the area.

Animal Service Day with 4-H

Sunday, November 18th, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

MLK Park Rec Center, Multipurpose Room, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis

MLK Park’s 4-H Club will be hosting a service project at their November meeting and EVERYONE is invited! Help make toys and treats for animals at local animal shelters!

Please respond & RSVP (yes/no) with the following info:

  • Number of youth & adults attending
  • If you are able to arrive a half hour early to help set-up, and/or stay 15 min at the end to clean-up
  • If you would like to bring a snack to share (limit $5-10 per family). Consider allergy friendly foods (popcorn, fruit, granola bars, etc.)
  • If you can bring old t-shirts of any size or color that you don’t mind cutting up

Adults, please consider being a Club Co-Leader:
They are looking for 2-5 adults who are willing to take lead and ownership of this club by January 2019, with a 4-H staff's guidance.

Pop-Up Local Art Sale: Ritual and Resilience

Center for Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Avenue South, Minneapolis

cfpa is excited to host our annual Pop-Up Local Visual Art Sale on Small Business Saturday, 11/24/18.

This year, in tandem with cfpa’s New Works Residency (for performing artists), the sale will organize around a theme: Ritual and Resilience. These artists work within a range of rituals and traditions that bring them into encounters with resilience.

cfpa produces monthly art events. All events are free and open to the public.

Paint-a-Bowl for Kingfield Empty Bowls

Come and paint a bowl that has been hand created just for our Kingfield Empty Bowls Event - we just need YOU! Supplies are provided, it is free and all are welcome! No experience is needed; recommended for ages 6 and up (ages under 12 must be accompanied by an adult); one bowl per person. Your artwork will be on display at the 2019 Kingfield Empty Bowls Event, February 7th, benefiting Nicollet Square which provides housing and support for young adults who have experienced homelessness or been in the foster care system.

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) manages this List for the purpose of informing neighbors of events and issues that directly affect Kingfield neighborhood. This list is never shared nor sold to any other organizations. Kingfield is defined as 35W to Lyndale Avenue South and from 36th Street through 46th Street. All List recipients are invited to share neighborhood news with other members by sending messages to sarah@kingfield.org ; please indicate in the subject line that it is a message for the Kingfield E-mail List. All messages submitted by members for consideration of inclusion on the List must include complete contact information including name, phone, and email address. All messages will be screened and no partisan political messages will be posted. Ballot initiatives are not considered partisan political activity, and are permitted activities under KFNA's 501(c)(3) tax status.

The List Administrator will make the final decision as what information is posted to the Kingfield E-mail List and maintains the right to edit all messages. Many messages concerning neighborhood issues or questions we will simply answer directly, rather than posting to the entire list. Notices may also, or instead, at List Administrator's discretion be posted on the KFNA website
