For months (...maybe a year+?!), neighbors have been gathering at 40th and Nicollet to dance together, while all moving to their own rhythms and beats.

Led by neighboring dancer and volunteer, Nan Zosel, you are invited to bring you favorite dancing tunes and your headphones and join them in this outward celebration individuals uniting in community!

Safety and Community Building in Our Neighborhood

2a) Minneapolis Redistricting Group Listening Session for the 2021-22 Redistricting Project

Tuesday, September 21st, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The Minneapolis Redistricting Group invites you to a listening session sponsored by the Office of the City Clerk. During the session, the Redistricting Group will describe the Redistricting project that will redraw boundaries of Minneapolis wards and park districts based on the 2020 census. New boundaries help ensure that you are fairly represented on the Minneapolis City Council and Park and Recreation Board.

We’ll discuss the timing of the project, the production of new boundary maps and answer any questions or concerns residents have at this early stage of the process.

3a) KFNA Board Meeting with Special Presentation by City Clerk Casey Carl

Wednesday, September 8th, 7:00 PM

Join KFNA for an overview of the Charter, the role of the commission, why so many amendments are coming forward lately and an explanation of how that process happens. Plus hear a brief overview of the three charter amendments on the ballot this year. Up to 15 minutes will be allotted for Q & A and then regular Board Meeting will carry on following the presentation.

3c) Learn About All 3 City Charter Amendments from Groups Advocating on Each Side of Each One

Online & In Person Option: Registration information coming soon!

This fall, Minneapolis votes on three charter amendments that will determine the future of public safety, rent control, and the structure of our local government.

Confused? The Charter Education Team, a partnership of Southwest Minneapolis Neighborhood Organizations, will host two public forums about these amendments during the week of October 11th. Advocates in favor of and opposed to each charter amendment will make their case, and help you decide which way to vote. The forums will be held in a hybrid format, with an online stream and limited in-person attendance (COVID conditions permitting).

4a) Grow Food (for The Aliveness Project!) & Learn Stuff (for yourself!) at the MLK Donation Garden

Eggplants, tomatoes, cukes and beans are coming in at The Donation Garden at MLK Park; over 10 pounds per week is being harvested and donated to The Aliveness Project for their meal program serving those living with HIV/AIDS. Join our garden volunteers and Hennepin County Master Gardeners each week to learn something new and connect in your community!

5a) MnDOT Street Fair: It’s time to discover, connect and CELEBRATE the new 35W@94!

Grab your friends and family and come celebrate the completion of the 35W@94 Downtown to Crosstown project! There’s something for everyone with food, shopping, music, games and a walking tour of the new community enhancements including the Midtown Greenway connection. We hope to see you there!

It’s ALMOST over but in case you still bump into construction this week...!

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) manages this List for the purpose of informing neighbors of events and issues that directly affect Kingfield neighborhood. This list is never shared nor sold to any other organizations. Kingfield is defined as 35W to Lyndale Avenue South and from 36th Street through 46th Street. All List recipients are invited to share neighborhood news with other members by sending messages to sarah@kingfield.org ; please indicate in the subject line that it is a message for the Kingfield E-mail List. All messages submitted by members for consideration of inclusion on the List must include complete contact information including name, phone, and email address. All messages will be screened and no partisan political messages will be posted. Ballot initiatives are not considered partisan political activity, and are permitted activities under KFNA's 501(c)(3) tax status.

The List Administrator will make the final decision as what information is posted to the Kingfield E-mail List and maintains the right to edit all messages. Many messages concerning neighborhood issues or questions we will simply answer directly, rather than posting to the entire list. Notices may also, or instead, at List Administrator's discretion be posted on the KFNA website
