Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Zion Church's monthly community dinner! For the second year in a row, there will be hand pies and St. Patrick's Day cookies from Butter Bakery that can be taken to go or eaten around outdoor fire pits at Zion Church, weather permitting, so come gather with your neighbors in a COVID safe manner.

2) Join KFNA for a Pancake Breakfast—Made Even Better with Kingfield’s Very Own Maple Syrup!

Bring the family down to the park to watch the sap boil and enjoy a good ol’ fashioned pancake breakfast, served with sausage (pork), fruit, juice and coffee! Learn how maple syrup is made—and enjoy some of Kingfield’s own syrup from 2021 on your pancakes! Proceeds from the breakfast benefit both KFNA and MLK Park programming, partners in this community Sap Tap which is in its 4th year of seasonal celebration!
So what is a Community Sap Tap? Neighbors register at the park to pick up a tree tapping kit and instructions on how to tap their personal maple (or box elder!) tree. Then all the participants bring the sap to the park and we collectively boil it down to syrup, and then share the results! Kits are gone for this year…but join us for pancakes, learn about the process, and plan to join KFNA in this fun seasonal activity again next spring!

“In 1976, my wife and I chose to become Minneapolis homeowners.
With two good union jobs working as cub reporters downtown at the Star Tribune, we had locational choices. We'd grown up in suburbs, came here for college, and stayed for the big-city energy.
Forty-five years later, we're still here and we don't regret it.
Bashing Minneapolis is fashionable lately. The Wall Street Journal recently published a disavowing essay by the writer who long ago penned the Time magazine cover story that has passed into Minnesota lore for declaring us "the state that works." His mostly Minneapolis-based case that we're no longer so exceptional is based on portraying the city as a hotbed of crime, a capital of wokeness and (horrors!) more diversity.
Andy Brehm suggests ("Anarchy in Minneapolis goes unchallenged," Opinion Exchange, Feb. 15) that the city is in a downward spiral. He describes Minneapolis as a hell world after dark, citing a recent spasm of Uptown hooliganism.
Gee, we senior citizens must have missed that memo...”
