Thanks to a graffiti prevention grant from the City of MPLS Solid Waste and Recycling and a gap grant from the Dr. Martin Luther King Legacy Council, the Kingfield Neighborhood will be seeing a new mural on the soundwall of 40th Street and Stevens Avenue. The mural will be painted and then installed on each of the sides of the pedestrian bridge in Kingfield, and will serve as a gateway into, and out of, the neighborhood. Kingfield is excited to welcome artist Greta McLain, and recognize artist and Kingfield neighbor Silvia Ibáñz as our artistic leaders on this project!
There will be a series of workshops this spring with teen-focused painting dates and community-oriented dates (this includes families and singles and …well just about every one!) Pat and Donna Mulroy propose to rehabilitate the office portion of the existing building at 3920 Nicollet to improve the offices of the auto body business, and to house several commercial businesses that would be accessed through a separate entrance off of Nicollet Avenue, which meets the zoning codes definition of a “shopping center” They also propose to place business signage on the north wall of the business which would not be allowed without a variance as it is not a “primary building wall”. These actions require a rezoning of the property from a R2B to C2.
