Steve Huot has been serving as the Treasurer for the Kingfield Neighborhood Association for one year. Now retired, he is a Licensed Psychologist with over 35 years of experience working with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, specializing in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and sex offender therapy. He holds a BA in Psychology from the College of St. Thomas and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota.
A resident of Kingfield since 1983, Steve appreciates the vibrant local businesses and restaurants that make the neighborhood special. Participating in events like Porchfest 2024 and Open Streets has reinforced his belief in the importance of community and connection among neighbors.
Some of his favorite spots in Kingfield include Nicollet Ace Hardware and Hawkins Automotive, both of which he has frequented for over 35 years. He loves to share his favorites with friends, including Victor’s 1959, Rincon 38, Good Times, and Clancey’s, all within steps of his home. Other local gems he enjoys are Nighthawks, Kyatchi, Boludo, Finer Meats, Petite Leon, La Casa (Cinco de Mayo), Butter, Bucheron, Sebastian Joe’s, Revival, and Café Ena. He also appreciates the community’s Catholic church, led by the wonderful Father Kevin McDonough.
In his free time, Steve is an avid guitarist and singer, recently joining the Apollo Club, a men’s chorus founded in 1895. He enjoys cooking and gardening as well. He has been happily married for 45 years and has three adult children (and their spouses) and two grandchildren living in Bancroft.
Fun fact: Steve played on Prairie Home Companion during its first year, and while he’s proud of that experience, he humorously claims his real claim to fame is having performed what he believes is the worst harmonica solo in the show’s history!
