Thank you neighbors for taking part in our “Keep It Local” Charity Event!

December 6, 2020 By Sarah

Thank you Neighbors, for taking the time to purchase $10 gift cards from our many local shops as gifts for the clients at The Aliveness Project! Already we have contributed almost 100 gifts equaling almost $1000 (which also supports our struggling local stores) to our neighbors living with HIV/AIDS so they can either go purchase something nice for themselves, or a loved one. Our goal is to provide 300 gifts by Friday afternoon, December 11 so they can be used to stuff the gift stockings next weekend so we are well on our way!

Gift cards can be purchased at any local business and brought to the front door of the The Aliveness Project during their regular hours this week. If you want to purchase a gift card but are concerned about making extra trips during this period of COVID precautions, you can also purchase gift cards from the following local businesses on-line, and they will make sure they get delivered to The Aliveness Project in time for the stocking-stuffing!

Businesses that can support a Gift Card purchase include:

For all Gift Card’s purchased online please enter your name as “Aliveness Project” and your email as info@kingfield.org so we are notified to pick it up for delivery. For any other local businesses not listed below, please deliver your Gift Cards directly to The Aliveness Project.

  • Butter Bakery
  • The Lowbrow
  • Nighthawks
  • Pompadour
  • Royal Grounds
  • Sun Street Breads

Businesses that can support an E-card purchase include:

For any e-Gift card please send them as a gift to “Aliveness Project” (recipient) with the contact as Mattb@aliveness.org (email).

  • Victor’s 1959 Café

KFNA is an organizing organization. Support KFNA Directly this week with any size donation this week as part of Give to the Max.

November 17, 2020 By Sarah

We are not a “homeowners association” or a membership organization. Everyone in Kingfield belongs to KFNA. Our work is often low visibility, behind the scenes, and focused on supporting community members. In these uncertain times this support is critical.  Yet the reality is that the city of Minneapolis is facing significant budget pressures and KFNA’s financial support will be cut significantly over the next several years. To continue to exist in our current capacity, we need donations and engagement from you, as neighbors and stakeholders.

Please consider a financial donation to allow KFNA to continue to be an active community builder and voice at the table.  Every dollar helps. Support KFNA Directly this week with any size donation this week as part of Give to the Max.

Neighborhoods 2020 Guidelines Approved by City Council–but what good will it due without the funding to back it up?

November 17, 2020 By Sarah

The City Council has approved Neighborhoods 2020 program guidelines for equity, funding, and governance among City-supported neighborhood organizations. These guidelines are designed to preserve neighborhood organizations and create equitable communities in which all people are valued, all communities are engaged, and leadership mirrors the diversity of the city. Under the approved plan, there are equitable engagement funds available to each neighborhood which are allocated based on an equity formula developed by CURA and total program funding and base level funding for each neighborhood organization will be discussed through the City’s budget process.

The current proposal provides less than .25 of 1% of the entire City budget to be divided between the 70 Minneapolis neighborhood associations.

Join the Kingfield Walk of Gardens on Thursday July 9

July 8, 2020 By Sarah

Plan your walking/biking route! 28 gardens will be open for public viewing, hosted by their resident, passionate gardeners this Thursday 6-8 PM. Additionally at least five musical groups will also be out on their porches participating in On Thursday We Sing, and serenading you along the route.

Donations for taking part in the event be given to The Donation Garden at MLK Park. This community garden is an important source of fresh food that is used to supplement daily meals for Aliveness Project clients living with HIV/AIDS, and also to support their food shelf. Dollars raised over what the garden needs this year to rebuild their garden beds will be donated to this important Kingfield partner. Donating is as easy as texting the words ‘Garden Tour’ to 44-321, which then sends you a reply text to click on to go to the KFNA donation page AND automatically directs your donation to this project.

Both a map and the garden descriptions are now published in the event found here: https://kingfield.org/event/kingfield-walk-of-gardens/
