Join KFNA for the 1st Annual Pancake Breakfast!

March 12, 2022 By Sarah

—Made Even Better with Kingfield’s Very Own Maple Syrup!

Saturday March 19, 9-10:30 AM at MLK Park (outdoor, fireside dining!)

Bring the family down to the park to watch the sap boil and enjoy a good ol’ fashioned pancake breakfast, served with sausage (pork), fruit, juice and coffee! Learn how maple syrup is made—and enjoy some of Kingfield’s own syrup from 2021 on your pancakes! Proceeds from the breakfast benefit both KFNA and MLK Park programming, partners in this community Sap Tap which is in its 4th year of seasonal celebration!

Tickets are available here!

So what is a Community Sap Tap? Neighbors register at the park to pick up a tree tapping kit and instructions on how to tap their personal maple (or box elder!) tree. Then all the participants bring the sap to the park and we collectively boil it down to syrup, and then share the results! Kits are gone for this year…but join us for pancakes, learn about the process, and plan to join KFNA in this fun seasonal activity again next spring!

Guide on How To Tackle Hunger on ‘SOUPer Bowl Sunday’ (a pregame event!)

February 8, 2022 By Sarah

Sunday February 13, 11 AM – 2 PM, Butter Bakery Café, 3700 Nicollet

Bring on Your Best Team (and your proof of COVID-19 vaccination) to Tackle Hunger and support Kingfield Empty Bowls!

  • Step 1: Bundle up and go to Butter Bakery, 3700 Nicollet, on Sunday Feb 13 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
  • Step 2: Visit the Outdoor Bowl Tent and select a beautiful artist-created, pottery bowl to take home!
  • Step 3: Move to the Donation Table and make a donation (suggested at $25 per person) to support Nicollet Square & KFNA as we fight hunger in your community.
  • Step 4: Decide if you want to dine at Butter or take soup home for later.

Those opting to take soup-to-go will choose one quart of any of the three delicious varieties donated by Simpls; packaged with bread and cookies to travel (plus a coupon for another quart in the future!)

Those opting to dine on site (indoors or out!) can share their proof of vaccination and enjoy soup from either Victor’s 1959 Café, Clancey’s Meats, or Butter Bakery themselves. This will be served with crusty, fresh bread from Sun Street and Great Harvest, and a choice of delicious dessert from The Lowbrow, Royal Grounds, or Metro Meals on Wheels and Open Arms!

Help KFNA Close Out 2021 on Strong Note; Make a Year-End Donation Today

December 27, 2021 By Sarah

Dear Kingfield Neighbor –  Understanding the Kingfield Neighborhood Association is as easy as ABC: KFNA is Always Building Community.  Whether that is through discussions and exploration of hard issues like safety and racism, working side by side to improve our neighborhood, or through events where we celebrate being together, KFNA knows that community building work we do is the foundation of community safety.

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association connects neighbors to each other and to important actions and activities that help you amplify your voice in our city. For this work, we are asking for your donation to support KFNA today. The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) needs your financial support for the work we do in our neighborhood.  Due to changes that City of Minneapolis made in how funds are distributed to neighborhood associations, KFNA has a $30,000 budget gap this year.

What would your life be like without your neighborhood association?

  • Less Informed? Who else would host civic discussions with stakeholders on both sides debating the issues, to make sure you are educated and engaged in making change in your community?
  • Lonelier? Who else would organize Nicollet Open Streets, all-day Election Polling Party, and Light It Up Kingfield as fun, local activities, simply as a way for you to build relationships to your neighbors and be out on our streets in neighborhood streets?
  • More Isolated? Who else would collect and send you a weekly e-news of everything going on in Kingfield neighborhood and work with block clubs to provide up-to-date public safety tips?
  • Quieter? And who would organize your musically gifted neighbors into street parties like PorchFest and On Thursdays We Sing so we share and see the talents of all our neighbors?

A gift of any size at this time of year helps us close our year-end funding gap. A sustaining monthly donation of $10 or $20 helps us plan for the future.

Donations can be made by:

  • Visit GiveMN.org/organization/Kingfield-Neighborhood-Association
  • Texting ‘KFNA’ to 44-321
  • Mailing a check to our address at the South Nicollet Action Center, c/o KFNA,
3537 Nicollet Avenue South, MPLS 55408

Thank you!

Captivating Calm Garden Tour Wrap-Up!

July 16, 2021 By Sarah

It was a beautiful evening for neighbors to gather in each other’s gardens. Thank you to our hosts and our organizing team which this year was comprised of Kingfield neighbors Julie, Laura, and Aimee! We couldn’t do this event without our steadfast volunteers!

If you attended a garden, as we know that hundreds of people did!, we ask that you consider making a donation to KFNA to support our work organizing projects like this that build community in our neighborhood. Suggested donation is $3 if you visited one garden and $10 + if you visited more than 1 site. Donations can be made via Venmo @kingfield_kfna or at this link through GiveMN.

If you are interested in being part of the leadership team next year please contact and KFNA will be in touch with you in the spring. You can also send a message if you are potentially interested in being a garden host location!
