100 Days of Community Campaign Kick-off Gathering!

Do you have plans this upcoming (going on 50th) Friday night during a pandemic?

No?!

Well, please join fellow neighbors Katie Blanchard, Sara Kettering and Jennifer Wustman for a virtual meeting hosted by KFNA this coming Friday to talk about communal safety. Bring something to drink, grab a snack and your good ideas, and log-on in for an informal (and maybe even fun?!?) community meeting!

This event is being facilitated by a group of neighbors that have been focusing since George Floyd’s murder on community safety strategies that move beyond policing. The purpose of this gathering is to engage with and collect feedback from Kingfield neighborhood Block Contacts about potential strategies to promote local community and public safety initiatives for 100 days … and into the future! They are helping KFNA kick-off a ‘100 Days of Community Campaign’ that will culminate with the anniversary of the murder of Mr. Floyd. In this initial gathering on Feb. 19th they will host a conversation with you focused on:

  1. Fight the Fear work and organizing
  2. Crowdsourcing to support city-wide violence prevention initiatives
  3. Community-building event(s) and practices

If you are already signed up with KFNA as your Block Contact, please RSVP here: https://forms.gle/sB5AjAuEb97WqkKH6

If you want to sign-up to be a Block Contact for your street, please do so here first: https://forms.gle/cFyi71978rryZSUZA … And THEN complete the registration above!

Registrants will receive a Zoom link 24 hours before the event.

Visit The Lowbrow today to Celebrate Kingfield Empty Bowls!

Soups simmering on the burner at The Lowbrow…Creamy Broccoli and Bison Chili!

Bring one of your own bowls from a past Empty Bowls event to show your support (or feel free to make donation and take a new one of ours!) When you order soup at The Lowbrow today (or at Butter Bakery!) they will also donate the price of your soup to support affordable housing options in our community! You can even choose to eat it at the restaurant all day today (make a reservation) or get it to-go and bring it home for the virtual community dinner tonight!

Can’t get out today but want to be part of this event? Donate directly to KFNA by texting the words ‘Affordable Housing’ to #44-321 to Support This Work in Our Community or donate through GiveMN at www.kingfield.org!

Donated funds for bowls and soup will be divided between three partners: Nicollet Square, City of Lake Community Land Trust, and KFNA, to support ongoing work like we did this past summer with the unhoused folks at MLK Park.

Kingfield Empty Bowls Virtual Community Dinner & Trivia Event!

RSVP here to save your household’s spot at the table for the Kingfield Empty Bowls Virtual Community Dinner & Trivia Event. Trivia will be hosted by Tane Danger and Heather Meyer, both Kingfield neighbors and members of The Theater of Public Policy!

Set the table, ladle out the soup, and plug in your laptop to enjoy a special show about Kingfield presented by our hosts Tane and Heather. Be sure to have your cell phone handy so you can also participate in the online Kingfield-centric trivia, focused on the history of Kingfield’s residents and dwellings. Tane says, “it’s going to be a super fun, interactive online trivia event, where YOU can play with, and against!, others in the neighborhood!”

And did we say prizes? We should have, as there will be prizes too!

Any questions about Kingfield Empty Bowls should be directed to KFNA Executive Director Sarah Linnes-Robinson.
