Introducing a socially responsible, socially distanced 2020 Kingfield PorchFest…

Stroll the neighborhood on Thursday evening June 18 and listen for the sounds your neighbors are sharing.

We are not producing maps or promoting a community-wide party but we are encouraging musicians to take to their porches on Thursday June 18 and share their talents with their neighbors!  Please feel free to stroll the neighborhood that evening to hear whatever may be heard from various musicians. It is a difficult time to promote a “celebration”, and yet we also know that connecting to neighbors, both who they are and what they do, is a bonding and uniting force in these trying times so we encourage you to be safely out ,and about, in community.

We do encourage:

  • All people to wear masks
  • All friends not already living in family-units to maintain a 6 foot distance
  • If you are considering stopping to listen bring your own blanket or folding chair
  • Bring money and your phone for tipping

Feel free to support all local musicians with cash or credit card tips, in whatever way they suggest at their home-stage to provide them. Donations will also be graciously accepted by KFNA for next year’s PorchFest event which at: Text PORCHFEST to 44-321 from now through the event.

Kingfield Neighborhood Association Redevelopment Committee Special Meeting

Meeting on Zoom (email for a link)

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association Redevelopment Committee had the opportunity to review the developer’s proposal for 4220 & 4230 Nicollet Avenue South last week, and the committee is holding a special committee meeting via Zoom to allow interested neighbors to learn about the project and ask questions of the developer, Michael Pink of Left Lane Corporation.

Review the project summary below, and we welcome you to submit project questions BEFORE the meeting so we can request that his team address them in the presentation. For questions, please email and put ‘4220 & 4230 Nicollet Meeting’ in the subject line. Questions will be accepted during the presentation if time allows.

Grocery Distribution Event for All Households In-Need

Organized by Incarnation Church/Sagrado de Corazon and held at 38th & Pleasant (SW Corner of Intersection)

If you are experiencing, or anticipating, a shortage of grocery staples in the coming week, please know you are invited to participate in the Incarnation/Sagrado de Corazon Grocery Distribution Event this coming Sunday. Intended for low-income households, or those that have difficulties accessing food, there is no cost to participate in this event. Enough groceries will be available to provide food-security for the coming week to 1100 families.

Participants are asked to arrive by car, if possible. Four lanes will be formed and be directed to enter the parking lot from Pleasant Avenue. Boxes of groceries will be placed in your car by volunteers. Each box contains enough calories of food to feed a family of four for an entire week. Much of the food is dried or canned so will be shelf-stable.

Zip codes will be collected at the event to allow for increased food distribution at this location in the coming weeks. Community volunteers will also be collecting Census information to help attendees complete the forms and avoid a knock on the door by enumerators later this summer. If you speak Spanish and are able to help with Census collection please contact .

If you are interested in supporting this outreach you can make direct financial donations to the Incarnation COVID-19 Food Shelf at this link: http://bit.ly/IncarnationFoodShelf

Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood? Episode 4

A Kingfield Neighbor Interview Series

Scott Lloyd Anderson has lived in Kingfield since 1986. Previously a publication art director, he now paints landscape pictures in oils. He works in a traditional style and paints primarily outdoors, en plein air. He has traveled all over the country doing outdoor painting events but loves painting around in the Kingfield neighborhood the best.

Scott was honored to paint at 38th & Chicago last week at the site where George Floyd was killed, and create these images of our vibrant and inclusive city. He is excited to talk to you about them, and his experiences there.

Email to learn more about the series or visit the event on Facebook here.

Interviewer: Jerome Rankine, Editorial Director at Pollen and a Kingfield Neighborhood Association Board Member

We at the Kingfield Neighborhood Association frequently boast about how talented and committed our community is, but when we began talking about all the great things that neighbors are doing, both during the current pandemic and beyond, we realized that you might not know each other as well as we know you. This online series of one-on-one interviews with neighbors is designed to help you get to know your neighbors better, understand what they do, and what drives and fulfils them.
