Get the Dirt, On Dirt! An MLK Donation Garden Outdoor Drop-In Class

Join us on the north side of the MLK Park building at the MLK Donation Garden!

Facebook Event Page

Led by Hennepin County Master Gardeners we will learn about soil needs in raised beds and amend the current boxes at the MLK Donation Garden.

The mission of the MLK Donation Garden, located on the northern side of the King Park Building at 4055 Nicollet is to connect neighbors and grow food for our community. Neighbors gather every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 PM to tend the vegetables in the boxes at the northern side of the MLK Recreation Center and discuss a weekly topic. The food we grow in 2019 will be donated to The Aliveness Project(located at 3808 Nicollet), but the knowledge you go home with is yours to keep! Join our new Facebook Group hereto get notifications of weekly classes!

Feel free to drop in and bring your questions, tend the soil, and meet neighbors, whether weekly whenever you can; you are always welcome!

Garage Sale Day in Kingfield!

Sometimes we need to make choices about what we spend our time on what projects we focus our attention on.  Facing a reduced budget, an impending reduction of staff, and a dearth of volunteers, KFNA has decided to not hold the traditional garage sale this year. Instead we declare that May 18th is GARAGE SALE DAY IN KINGFIELD.

It won’t be an extravaganza this year, but many of your neighbors are taking advantage of a sale date to motivate them to part with their possessions that no longer bring them joy… and may be just the thing you are looking for!!  Look for signs, drive through the ‘hood, and help support your neighbors in their efforts to recycle – reuse – repurpose!

KFNA Welcomes Five New Board Members!

May 10, 2019 By Josh Martin

April 26th, KFNA held its annual meeting with a celebration at the neighborhood Pizza Oven.  The annual event is an opportunity for neighbors, board members and KFNA staff to come together and celebrate of the all the work KFNA accomplished in the past year.  Despite the threat of rain and cold, the weather cooperated and about 100 neighbors and community leaders showed up to eat fresh cooked pizza, talk about the past year and share ideas for the future.

During the event annual elections were also held.  Please congratulate Lesa Hudak, David Robbins, Elena Bretzman, Sarah Tschida, and Mike Skinner as new KFNA board members.

There are still three open seats on the KFNA Board.  KFNA is committed to the principle of equity and is particularly interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of individuals. KFNA is seeking specific populations to fill these remaining seats including Renters, POCI,  LGBTQ+, Youth, or Seniors to balance representation on the board.

If you have any questions or are potentially interested in serving please contact KFNA Executive Director Sarah Linnes-Robinson at . We invite all interested neighbors can attend the June Board meeting on 6/12/19 at 7 PM, MLK Park.
