At the September Kingfield Neighborhood Association Board Meeting
Currently the City Charter holds the power over the amount and locations for liquor licensing within Minneapolis, not the City Council. This Vote, if approved by 55% of the voting population, would strike all references in the City Charter relating to the area and spacing restrictions pertaining to the sale of liquor.
The transmittal letter from the Charter Commission (which can be found here: https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/File/2018-00753 ) shows the recommended Charter strike out language, Â and the votes. The official wording on the ballot will state:
“Shall the Minneapolis City Charter be amended to remove from the City charter the area and spacing requirements pertaining to liquor licenses? Yes or Noâ€
Liquor area and spacing restrictions – by referendum [Minn. Stat. § 410.12, subd. 1]
