KFNA Board Meeting: Presentation on MPD Procedural Justice Training

The March meeting will begin with a presentation by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Procedural Justice Division. The Minneapolis Police Department has adopted and trained their officers in the philosophy of Procedural Justice in response to community concerns over policing techniques. Procedural Justice provides just procedures to guide officers through interactions with the public, helping everyone involved understand the way those interactions shape the views of police officers as well as the citizens. These procedures include giving a voice to the citizen during an encounter, helping officers to view the information in a neutral way, treating everyone with respect, and working to build trust in the community. Come learn more about this at the March KFNA Board meeting. [Read more…]

Pi Day and a Pie Eating Contest

Raising funds for Nicollet Square & Lyndale Community Dinners (LCD)

The Lyndale and Kingfield Neighborhoods are hosting a fundraising contest for the Lyndale Community Dinner and Nicollet Square Housing Collaborative. YOU can sign up to compete! As a contestant, you will fundraise your way to the pie eating table on Wednesday, March 14th at the Lyndale Community Dinner. The top ten fundraisers will be invited to participate in the pie eating contest with a grand prize of $50.

To sign up and compete:

Email Jenna Yeakle at lcd@zionchurchmpls or use this google form to sign up online, or copy and paste it from here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyR05J0L-zvuHKf9aJAdITvOagA0OQFjLn5OfxWk0LD-nSyw/viewform?c=0&w=1 .

We recognize the privilege of eating large amounts of pie in a few minutes and celebrate the silliness. We also know that food security is a real issue that our communities face. Please bring a donation of canned food, dried food, or cash when you come watch this goofy community contest!

Kingfield has always shown up for each other. 💛 An Kingfield has always shown up for each other. 💛
And right now, that togetherness matters.

On Sunday, February 8, neighbors will gather for Kingfield Empty Bowls—sharing soup, choosing handmade bowls, and supporting local nonprofits fighting food injustice and increasing housing access in our community.

It’s about sharing space, being together, and taking care of one another in small but meaningful ways.

We’d love to see you there.
