Minneapolis Neighborhoods 2020: Roadmap Info Session

Overview of the Roadmap with City staff and an opportunity to ask questions and have conversations.

This document, the Neighborhoods 2020 Roadmap, is meant to help continue the dialogue with our stakeholders on the future of neighborhood programs, funding, oversight and support. The Roadmap lays out the framework of why the City is undertaking this initiative, explains the project timeline, proposes some recommendations for actions to be taken on polices, programs and oversight. The Roadmap offers for your consideration, three different approaches to neighborhood funding, programming and support services. We also want your creative ideas about how we can improve upon our system of neighborhoods and the services NCR provides to the community.

The public comment period on the Neighborhoods 2020 Roadmap is open from February 28th through Monday, April 30th.  Comments can be submitted to .

KFNA Board Meeting: Presentation on MPD Procedural Justice Training

The March meeting will begin with a presentation by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Procedural Justice Division. The Minneapolis Police Department has adopted and trained their officers in the philosophy of Procedural Justice in response to community concerns over policing techniques. Procedural Justice provides just procedures to guide officers through interactions with the public, helping everyone involved understand the way those interactions shape the views of police officers as well as the citizens. These procedures include giving a voice to the citizen during an encounter, helping officers to view the information in a neutral way, treating everyone with respect, and working to build trust in the community. Come learn more about this at the March KFNA Board meeting. [Read more…]

Pi Day and a Pie Eating Contest

Raising funds for Nicollet Square & Lyndale Community Dinners (LCD)

The Lyndale and Kingfield Neighborhoods are hosting a fundraising contest for the Lyndale Community Dinner and Nicollet Square Housing Collaborative. YOU can sign up to compete! As a contestant, you will fundraise your way to the pie eating table on Wednesday, March 14th at the Lyndale Community Dinner. The top ten fundraisers will be invited to participate in the pie eating contest with a grand prize of $50.

To sign up and compete:

Email Jenna Yeakle at lcd@zionchurchmpls or use this google form to sign up online, or copy and paste it from here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyR05J0L-zvuHKf9aJAdITvOagA0OQFjLn5OfxWk0LD-nSyw/viewform?c=0&w=1 .

We recognize the privilege of eating large amounts of pie in a few minutes and celebrate the silliness. We also know that food security is a real issue that our communities face. Please bring a donation of canned food, dried food, or cash when you come watch this goofy community contest!

Kingfield Green Team Meeting

It’s not easy being green.

Because we at KFNA know that many of our neighbors care about the environment, part of our mission for the new year will be trying to shift more attitudes about environmental actions. Ideally, we would give up feeling that green habits are an extra effort and practice them without even thinking about it, essentially developing a greener lifestyle. KFNA will focus on creating change in the areas of home and business composting, waste reduction when hosting outdoor events, increasing pollinator habitat, incentivizing and supporting walking and biking, and more. We welcome you to bring your interests and ideas to the table and to be a part of our team as well!

If you are interested in joining us, give us a shout at  or 612-823.5980, or just show up at the meeting!

And right now, that togetherness matters.

On Sunday, February 8, neighbors will gather for Kingfield Empty Bowls—sharing soup, choosing handmade bowls, and supporting local nonprofits fighting food injustice and increasing housing access in our community.

It’s about sharing space, being together, and taking care of one another in small but meaningful ways.

We’d love to see you there.
